R.I.P. Frank Navetta (Descendents guitarist)

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.o...64fffbeda12642

Frank Navetta, founding member and guitarist for the Descendents, fell ill over the past few days and passed away on October 31, 2008. Besides naming the band, Frank wrote a ton of great songs and was a great friend. He will be truly missed.

We don't have any information about funeral or memorial services at the moment. We'll pass along information for any public services when we find out.

Go give Milo Goes To College or Bonus Fat a spin in Frank's honor

This is a bummer. I'm a HUGE Descendents fan, I'm gonna have to put Milo Goes to College in my car tomorrow.

This is sad news. Since 1986 I have had a cd or cassette of Milo Goes to College in whatever car I've had at the time.

Yeah, I heard about this the other day. I still have the orig. Ride the Wild/It's A Hectic World 7" from '79 (bought it years ago). Been a huge Descendents fan since high school.

Maybe a trip to Der Weinerschnitzel is appropriate.

God dammit

I cannot put into words what The Descendents have done for me over the years. It was the first band that I feel like I found on my own through my young teen years that spoke to me in a way that no one else had been able to at that point.

This sucks so bad and a marathon is in order for the foreseeable future.

Any news on how he died? Guys in their 40's just don't die for no reason.

From http://www.descendentsonline.com :

We're very sorry to announce that founding member of The DESCENDENTS, and close friend Frank Navetta passed away on October 31, 2008 after becoming ill over the course of a few days. This is obviously a huge loss for the DESCENDENTS family. His contribution to the band, and to music in general can not be overstated. Frank will be truly missed. We will share information about memorial services when we find out.

Looks like Carrot Top in that picture.

I saw them way back in '87 during their FinALL tour. Been a huge fan for 25 years.
