I assume by your username that you're a Blue Oyster Cult fan. I saw them live a few years ago. Right after the show, Buck Dharma was walking to the backstage area and walked right past my friend and me. I threw up my hand and yelled "Up top!" for a high-five and he left me hanging. Still, Fire of Unknown Origin is one of the greatest albums ever. Unfortunately, they kept playing new songs.
I have seen them many times over the years. Mostly from 1991 - 2001. Unfortunately, I never saw them in their prime. However, the Dharma, Bloom, and Lanier lineup was terrific live. They used to play a ton of old stuff when they first put out Heaven Forbit and the Curse of the Hidden Mirrors albums. They would only play a few new songs here and there.
It is a shame Buck ignored you as a fan because they always came across to me as very humble at this stage of their career. Especially since, Lanier seems to be gone and Buck and Eric are the only two original members remaining.

Yes, that is the source of my nickname. Fire of Unknown Origin is a great album, but I appreciate other albums just as much from various stages of their career. Secret Treaties, Imaginos, Cultosaurus Erectus are the three I would say are on the same par as FOUO.

Speaking of awesome thrash, my radio biz buddy gave me a copy of the new Kreator and it is fucking awesome! That band kicks some serious ass.
Also, I have been listening to newer Exodus (Tempo of the Damned to the present) and that stuff it pretty awesome too.
Totally digging the newest Testament too. Forgot how awesome they were!
Lastly, Forbidden = Awesome! I met two of the guys (Craig and Steve) when they were in the now defunct Man Made God, playing at the Jersey shit hole known as the Birch Hill. Very cool dudes and they were talking about a reunion then in 2003.

As for Exodus, I love Tempo but their "newer" stuff is horrible IMO. Both "The Atrocity Exhibition" and "Shovel Headed.." bored me to tears. Blah, Fabulous Disaster is still my favorite of their albums (even more so than Bonded by Blood)..
and as for the newest Testament. It was OK at best. I've listened to the new CD twice since I got it. It doesn't really warrant constant re-listens plus with albums like Nocturnal Breed and Toxic Holocaust, Testament just doesn't do it anymore.

Have to agree here. It's a good metal record but it doesn't feel like Testament to me. I think the drumming has something to do with it. Louie Clemente was never a consistent double-kick player, and that style on here makes Testament sound too much like other bands. Plus, none of Skolnick's solos leapt out at me like they have on past records he did with them.

I thought it looked like it could be a stand-in for Camp Crystal Lake. But I had plenty of good times there (sans seeing Life of Agony...ugh 130 degrees in there and watching my fat friend Moose kiel over from it...not cool).

for some reason, I always thought of Slaughter as being some mediocre hair-metal Warrant/Ratt-esque band, but then I found out that Chuck Schuldiner (rip) played with them briefly. Maybe it's a different Slaughter. I also remember Bob Saget's character on Full House dating a much younger girl and she took him to see Slaughter (maybe that's why I thought they weren't that hard).

While their was a terrible hair band named Slaughter, there was also a Canadian Thrash Band of the same name.

ah, that's what I thought. I was thinking.....how did a terrible hair band get Chuck? Then I thought of how Randy Rhodes started off in Quiet Riot and just figured it was possible. I'll have to check out the Canadian Slaughter, then.
