Well.... It's better than just another greatest hits package.

...but I'd much rather have a new album.

No one's forcing anyone to buy this. That's the cool thing about freedom!

Yeah, I'd rather have a new album too. Or a DVD that hasn't been released before. Everyone basically has the "rerecordings" if they have any of the professionally recorded live concerts they did in 2004.

Pretty disappointing.

Come on guys, at least mix in some different songs!

(or come up with a few new tunes, even just 1)

I don't know. I think the Rolling Stones might have them beat.

The Stones did do a tour for that 40 Licks collection, but you are correct in that they normally tour for new albums. And, frankly, I'd say both Bridges To Babylon and A Bigger Bang were better albums than anything Kiss has done since Revenge.

I can see rerecording some of the older songs to give them a crunchier, more metal feel. Paul would always say on stage that they were playing I Was Made for Loving You "the way it was supposed to sound" as opposed to the poppy version on Dynasty.

If they deconstruct them a bit, it might be a fun listen. If they're just rerecording them so they don't have to pay residual royalties to Ace and Peter, then fuck them with a broken bottle.

I like "I Was Made For Loving You" as a disco song.

And Voodoo Lounge was as good as both of those put together.

And that isn't saying much itself.

I would say that those Stones albums are arguably better than Psycho Circus, but definitely not Carnival of Souls. Carnival was a great album, and a perfect mid 90's follow up to Revenge.

Can't disagree with you more there. Aside from "Love Is Strong" and "The Worst," I felt like Voodoo Lounge was The Stones weakest album since...um...Steel Wheels. No, but seriously, there's so much goddamn filler and utterly forgettable tracks on that album that I pretty much never listen to it. I thought Bridges To Babylon was a significant improvement, and A Bigger Bang was pretty consistent, as well.

To be totally honest, I think Bridges to Babylon is a better album than Revenge is, so I definitely think it's better than Carnival of Souls. But this is off topic, I wasn't trying to start a Stones vs. Kiss debate.

I'm just the opposite. I thought Bridges was mostly crap. And I thought A Bigger Bang is somewhere in between.

I will agree with you on The Worst. It may be my favorite Keith Stones song. I also think Out Of Tears, Sweethearts Together, YOu Got Me Rocking, Mean Disposition, and Blinded By Rainbows are all really great songs.

Terribly lame. At least they didn't include "Shock Me" or "2000 Man". I wish they would have at least recorded one new song for inclusion here. C'mon guys, would it have really been that hard to give fans some incentive to want this?

if they're gonna go into the studio and rerecord the oldies.... why not just get off Gene's high horse and record a new album?

So? It's THEIR choice!

ANYONE who buys an album of a band they like is a "fanboy" who is making their band "richer".

I am going to say the same thing I said when Ozzy re-recorded his stuff....

You are screwing your fans, screwing your legacy, and losing any integrity you once had.

Calm down fuzzy britches. I've been a KISS Fan since the 70's. So I've poured my fair share of coin into Paul and Gene's bank account over the years. I'm just saying that these halfassed money grabs by KISS are tiresome; and one of main reasons I stopped spending money on them. How many times should I dip KISS music? I mean shit guys, get serious, write GOOD NEW material, and release it.

Stop milking the same fuckin' shit over and over.

Ok, fancy pants. But it's not up to YOU to decide. You get one vote. With your pocketbook. You chose not to buy. If you don't want to buy it, fine. But it's not up to YOU to dictate what they put out and how much they put out. It's up to them.

I don't like vegetables, but I'm not telling the farmers "Enough! Stop growing them!" It's not my right to dictate what the farmers grow. They will grow stuff and people will buy and eat it (and line the farmer's pocketbooks with $$$). Same goes with music.

Many bands have chosen to re-record their classic works: Cheap Trick, Exodus, Saxon, Tankard, Destruction, Sodom, and more. Where's all the hatred for them?
