Hip Hop Fans:Heard of M.O.P.?

I doubt there are many hip hop fans but if there are any out there, I just have to endorse these guys real quick because I don't think many people have heard of them. They're a duo from Brooklyn, New York and they are grimey as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu** I'm not sure if they still are, but they were signed to G-Unit but please do not hold that against them

N.Y. Giants-Big Pun Featuring M.O.P. Big Pun on the first two verses and M.O.P. follows

Ante Up-M.O.P. Probably their biggest hit from their 2000 Warriorz album

Let It Bang-X-Ecutioners featuring M.O.P. I guess the X-Ecutioners are a DJ crew from back East. They supply the beat and M.O.P. supplies the fiyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

Heard of them. Never bought one of their albums, but I believe I liked their song they did with Gangstarr.

BuddhaWake 06-27-08 09:34 AM

MOP has been around for a lot of years. they were always close to Guru and Premier (Gangstarr). they are straight up brooklyn all the way.

An4h0ny 06-27-08 09:37 AM

i found out about them when i got lyricists' lounge

uncle-frank 06-27-08 10:53 AM

they were on g-unit from 2005-2008 but never released a cd.

i like them on features only to be honest. and of course a few songs like ante up, and cold as ice.

i seen them live a few months back for 20 bucks. it was a 40 minute set, not bad, lots of energy and carisma. i doubt id buy any of their albums tho

M.O.P.'s been around forever.

civiclx 06-27-08 01:19 PM

glad to see so many people have heard of them. I first heard them on DJ Clue's Professional Vol 1. I really like their guest appearances too. One album I would strongly suggest checking out is Warriorz but only my opinion of course. I just got To The Death yesterday, 14 years late.

here's another guest spot on the Bad Boys For Life remix

M.O.P. has been around for YEARS. Fiddy didn't help them with any records when they were signed to G-Unit so they left the label. Maybe it's for the best, Mobb Deep's G-Unit debut SUCKED.

civiclx 06-27-08 06:31 PM

I haven't checked their complete discography but did they release anything when they were signed to Rocafella?
Also, have you guys heard of WC by chance? I'm sure you recognize the name but if not he is 1/3 of Westside Connection. I only ask because he was signed to Def Jam for awhile which I thought was kind of surprising.

WC is one of my all time favorites. From when he was in Low Profile until now. His CD that came out last year wasn't half bad.

Love WC's flow.

= J

civiclx 06-27-08 09:13 PM

I love his flow too. I think he always outshines every artist he collaborates with. The oldest cd I have is Ain't A Dann Thing Changed with Maad Circle. I actually only have him on both Bow Down, Terrorist Threats and his Ghetto Heisman. I had The Shadiest One but I lost it. I haven't bought Guilty by Affilliation or downloaded any of the songs from it yet. Ooh speaking of Gangstarr, WC has a nice verse with them and Rakim on the Belly soundtrack. Gangstarr probably has the song on one of their albums too. Oh yeah and I downloaded one of his songs from Itunes where he raps over the ante up beat. He also has one over Nas' Thief's Theme.

Never been a fan, but "Ante Up" is indeed a workout anthem.

civiclx 06-27-08 11:16 PM

the remix for ante up is pretty good. I've been listening to N.Y. Giants in the car a lot lately.

porieux 06-27-08 11:40 PM

I recommend the 'Mash Out Posse' album from 2004. Good stuff. Especially the track 'Ground Zero', that is rad. Got it on emusic.com.

Jacoby Ellsbury 06-28-08 08:32 AM

Are there really people that listen to hiphop and dont know who these guys are?

Their first album like most hip hop artists is far and away their best. Track 10 off the first album forget the name with the piano, they released it as a single is a banger.

Anyone who was listening to hiphop 10 years ago knows who MOP and WC are. WC not my particular taste, pretty much when that whole westside connection album came out is when Cube fell off, basically from bootlegs and b-sides to present has been garbage.
Give me lethal injection and earlier works

Kory 06-29-08 07:09 PM

Love M.O.P. a lot. "Warriorz" is my favorite album of theirs, and is a hip-hop classic IMO.

WC, on the other hand, is terrible to me.

saoirse 06-29-08 07:19 PM

World Famous.

Great early stuff. I used to listen a lot, along with Mobb Deep and Smif N Wesson... Lots of great stuff from then.

dadaluholla 06-29-08 09:31 PM

I had the Warriorz cd for a while, but the whole "yelling each line" style of delivery got really old quick.
