What is this old (90s?) song?
 

Ok, I remember hearing this song in the 90s (IIRC) on rock/pop stations (definitely). In the past couple years I've heard it occassionally while in places playing Jazz music. I've never heard an announcer say the song's name or group.

It's mostly instrumental with a woodwind theme at some points. There's a all-male choir singing in what may be Latin in OLD church style music (I think they may at one point sing the word requiem). At another point, a woman's voice (not singing) says (I think) "moi, c'est moi, c'est moi" and then it goes back to just music. I can't figure out why this would have been played on rock/pop stations when I heard it at all.

When it was released as a single there was a lot of dance and soft rock on the charts so it was well-received at the time. It helps that it has an exotic flavor and is kinda sexy.

Actually, Deep Forest's albums were pretty good and that Enigma album isn't bad.

I actually feel that was Enigma's least interesting record. They've done some really great stuff since then IMO.

Deep Forest's first one was good, but never really cared for the next two they did. However, they did a release in 2002 called Music Detected that is quite good and blows away their other records IMO.

Also, for people who like these projects, if you've never heard or heard of Delerium, check them out for sure. They had a lot of experimental records out in the late 80's/early 90's (side project of Front Line Assembly guys), but they eventually turned it into an Enigma-esque vocal based electronic project. Really great stuff, especially the Karma and Chimera records.

I've never listened to Enigma, but the description of the music sounds a lot like the band Delerium.

I have a couple Delerium CDs, Poem is a very good background type of CD.
