scorpions..the greatest band that gets no love.
im continuing this from the GNR thread. where is the love for the scorpions in the music and metal world? did "wind of change" kill their rep? you couldnt get much heavier in the 70's than songs like "hes a woman shes a man", "dark lady", "robot man", "pictured life", "virgin killer", "hell cat", "steamrock fever", ect.
are there any other big fans of the scorpions. i was born in 77' but i was brought up on their 70's stuff. im not a huge fan of the 80's stuff but i do like alot of it.

yep they sure do. but you cant deny their past. this isnt about now though. the new stuff is in the same vein as "daughtry". i dont get why they went that route. they should have more than enough money to get back to their roots and fuckin jam like they used too.

I have Virgin Killer, Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism, In Trance. Blackout They all rock.
Sometimes you just get too old to keep things up the way they used to.
You have to give these bands some lee-way because of their age.
If they're playing crap, I just pass them on by, and listen to their old stuff.
You have to take into consideration that a lot of the guy's in these bands are grandpops now. Things never stay the same, age probably has a lot to do with it.

they have one of the greatest back catalogs in the history of hard rock, it's true
world wide live has to rank in the top ten all time of live rock releases.. ever.
blackout is one of my favorite cds. love at first sting is also great but i've just worn it out, on the level of ac/dc - back in black. the songs are good, i've just heard them too much now.
winds of change does suck though.
for old dudes, they still kick some ass on occasion.
how f$ck*ng awesome is The Zoo? Seriously?!?

The last two Scorps albums have been pretty darned good. Heavier than anything they've done since the 80's, and well written.
I saw them live in 2002 (the middle band on a bill headlined by Deep Purple and opened by the mighty DIO), and the Scorps just kicked ass! TONS of energy on stage - they haven't lost a step! (Much like Iron Maiden.)

World Wide Live was my first Scorpions album purchase which I bought when it first came out. I loved it and proceeded to work my way back through their entire catalog, loved them all except perhaps Lonesome Crow. Still love the live version of "Another Piece of Meat" from WWL.

I was never a Scorpions fan, but they were the first concert I ever attended. Irvine Meadows, 1993. Kings X opened. A friend had tickets and, being in 6th grade, going to a concert sounded sweet. It was a fun show.

Scorpions with Uli - Some of the greatest Hard Rock/Metal that came out of the 70's.
After Uli left and they became more of a Metal band, they also releases some classic records - Lovedrive (Michael Schenker's work on this album is amazing), Animal Magnatism, and especially Blackout are all classic German Metal. Sorry, Love at First Sting was a HUGE let down to me when it came out. I've got lot's of love for the Scorpions!

Their first studio album was released in 1980, so I can agree with you're argument. They still do rock tough!
