If you like [X], then you'll like [Y] — Recommendations thread
 

I thought we had one like this before, but I searched a few times under "like" and "recommendations" and I didn't see a match.

The idea here is that for fans of a well-known / current band, you recommend a similar band that is not as popular or maybe a bit older / forgotten.

I'll start it off with what got me to make this thread.

If you like MGMT, you might like Aspera's Oh Fantastica. Although it is a bit more down-tempo (i.e. not dancy), it has a very similar feel.

If you like Primus, check out The Residents.

If you like DJ Shadow - You might like The Avalanches
