They must have recorded a bunch of takes, and then used the best one (then added some overdubs later), because also at the end someone says "that's gonna be the one, isn't it?". They must have felt it was the best take and the one to use.

It's definitely one of those songs I really only need to hear once every 5 years. I listened to it loudly in my car recently and it certainly is a magnificent piece of music. BUT, that doesn't mean it has to be a fave.

Can't really pick a favorite from so many great songs, but I'll give some love to Heartbreaker - the opening guitar riff really revs me up.

Four-way tie for me:
Over The Hills and Far Away
Fool In The Rain
D'Yer Maker
All My Love

Of course, this list could change tomorrow.

Trampled Under Foot.

So good that Franz Ferdinand inverted it and called it Take Me Out.

It's a tie between these 3:
-"Hey Hey What Can I Do"
-"Going to California"
-"Rain Song"

They are like Pringles potato chips, you can't eat (or in this case, pick)
just one. It just can't be done I tell ya!! The PRESSURE! Its just TOO MUCH!

But ya know.. I guess the sentimental favorite for me would have to be
"thank you"... Or " trampled under foot!" Or, or "over the hills and far away!"
NO! NO, "when the levy breaks"!! No, I mean "going to California"! Waitaminute!! "Heartbreaker"!! The pressure. THE PRESSURE! It's TOO MUCH...Arghhhh!!!

From the list, I chose Kashmir...

My favorites NOT listed, however, are:

1. Goin' to California
2. Heartbreaker/Livin' Lovin' Maid
3. Misty Mountain Hop

I voted Rock & Roll, the band just comes together so well in this. Bonzo with the opening cymbals crashing, then pounding the drums through the rest, John Paul with that ripping bass line then hammering the keyboards, Jimmy wailing on the riff and solo, and Robert never sounded better. The name of the song is perfect, it's Rock and Roll baby......

For the longest time I'd have blindly said Dazed and Confused, but having listened to it again recently I have to admit I don't love it as much as I once did. So I'll have to throw my vote behind Babe I'm Gonna Leave You as well...

This is ultra difficult to consider. I got into Led Zeppelin when I was about 13, listened to them the very most when I was 16-18 when I was smoking dope daily, and still listen to them, but not as much as I used to.

My favorites come under two considerations...if I were stoned, and when I'm not.

If I were stoned, my favorites are (not in order - I can't torture myself that much)
1. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
2. Dazed and Confused
3. No Quarter
4. Since I've Been Loving You
5. How Many More Times

Not stoned (also not in order):
1. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
2. When the Levee Breaks
3. Good Times, Bad Times
4. Immigrant Song
5. Tangerine

I found it extremely difficult to put this list together, and could easily move songs around if I wanted to torture myself a little longer.

Oddly enough, if I had to pick a stoned album, and the one I listened to as a whole more than any other album when I was stoned, it was Led Zeppelin 2.

Anyone wanna cause more stress in my life - do a thread exactly like this one, just with The Doors.

Oh my! My favourites aren't even included in the list!

Out on the Tiles, Four Sticks, That's the Way, Livin' Lovin' Maid, Bron Yr Aur, Immigrant Song...

Heck, ALL LedZep compositions are great anyway.
