Favorite band from your home state

Favorite band currently from maryland that still exists is Dying Fetus. Although they are more an underground death metal band, but somewhat popular in that community. Fave band was Dog Fashion Disco, but they broke up in 2007.

Used to be a fan of Good Charlotte in their early days, but they've kind of gone down hill over the years, with dropping the fun poppy/punk songs, using keyboards in their newer material. and with the lead singer banging pop stars and reality socialites.

Well with KY being such a boon for the music industry it's between:

Billy Ray Cyrus or Days of the New

Not a tough choice. Hopefully Travis gets the new DOTN album out this year.

Liz Phair - artist

Tortoise - band

I can't really say my hometown band, Cheap Trick, because while I've seen them twice in concert I've never bothered to own an album of theirs.

From SD, so not much to chose from (Corky and the Fireflies or Zwarte anyone?) Unless I use a more broad definition of band and pick the Oglala (Red Cloud, Crazy Horse)

As I've lived in MN for a while, there are a lot more to pick.

Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and The Pixies are all from my hometown. Modern Lovers, The Cars, Magnetic Fields (although the bastards defected to NYC), Sonic Youth (hey, we got one back from NYC) etc. are all from my state.

The closest band I really like are The Innocence Mission (from Lancaster)...there's also Live (from York) and Fuel (Harrisburg), but I'm not really a fan. Plenty of great groups from Philly...too many to name.

Grew up in New Hampshire. Moved to New Mexico.

No one I've heard of shows up when I search by location in www.allmusic.com

Billy Ray Cyrus is from my hometown.

My favorite Kentucky bands (aside from those I played in) are My Morning Jacket and Squirrel Bait.

For me it would have to be Ministry. I would have said KMFDM but they weren't from Chicago originally, and kind of bounce around several cities.

I've always been surprised at how few truly great bands have come from here, considering the size of the city. Then again, the scene here has been and seemingly will always be about wannabes and trend followers.

And if someone names Disturbed I will puke.

Pumpkins? Meh.

I supposed you could go as far back as Styx, but do you want to?

I can't think of too many bands from here, so i'd probably have to go with Better Than Ezra.

Well being born in Texas I'd have to say The Sword.

Having grown up in Ohio, I'd have to say Nine Inch Nails.

Born in Iowa. Can't think of a single one.
Lived in Missouri since '75. Head East and Missouri are the only two I can think of.
Are Shooting Star from KS or MO?

Gonna have to go with The Flaming Lips. Hanson and Color Me Badd are close 80ths, though (out of the 15 I saw on wiki).
