Your Favorite Beck Album?
I'd say mine is...Sea Change. A bit depressing, but it brings up a million memories for me.
I thought I'd update this...the last time we had this thread was 2003, and we have a special edition of Odelay coming out soon.

Special edition of Odelay? Sign me up! I voted for that btw. Midnite Vultures is second.
The Information...was random as hell, seemed like it was lost in the shuffle. I lost my CD/DVD though and need to look through the videos again.

Probably Odelay, with Mutations being a close second. I'm probably in the minority, but I don't really like Sea Change much...it seems so dull and repetitive.

Stereopathetic Soul Manure
Midnite Vultures
Stereopathetic Soul Manure has some great tracks ("Puttin' It Down") but otherwise has a lot of crap. I wasn't a big fan of Midnite Vultures.

In order of preference. Know I'm in the minority but Vultures brings up so many great memories of the summer it was released.

I love Midnight Vultures a lot (and that was a great tour also) but Odelay has Charlie Haden on it. Hmm. Sea Change and Mutations are good too.

Beck always made a "party" album followed by a "sad" album. Then The Information came out and he broke his streak.

"Mellow Gold" is the one and only Beck album for me.
I remember being absolutely shocked he was still around when 'Where It's At' first came out - I wanted to like it, I really did, but it just never sat right with me.
Everything since then has been pretty unexciting as far as I'm concerned. Except 'Debra', I think it is, off of "Midnight Vultures". That's a fantastic track.

'Sea Change' - that's the one that got my attention that he was a real talent, not just an interesting indie act, it's my favorite and I also think it's his best work.

Sea Change definitely has the most emotional resonance, but I'll always have a nostalgic soft spot for Mellow Gold, bringing up blissful stoner teen memories as it does.

Odelay almost changed my life. Easily a top-five desert island disc for me.

Wait, where's 'Blow By Blow'??
Love many of the ones listed, but 'Midnight Vultures' has a special place in my heart.

Re: Your Favorite Beck Album?
This was a tough call....Odelay is such an amazing piece of work, but Sea Change....there is something about it that makes it stand out much more. However, my opinion tomorrow could be the opposite, both are equally awesome.

I like them all, but Odelay is the one that made me a fan.
