Sean Lennon : Discovering "Friendly Fire" (CD+DVD)

I just got into Sean Lennon this last week - I ordered Yoko Ono's older albums and thought why not, let me check the son out as well. Turns out this is a very happy, sunny and light alternative-pop album. A little too much like the Beatles in places, but still, very very solid and lots of tracks have repeat value.

I got the 2-Disc version of this with the DVD - he's made a video for virtually every song on the CD! A great idea, and even though hes no supermodel, there is something very soulful and moving about this performer in his videos as well.

Any other lovers of this album?

I havent heard it but I liked his first album. Bossa Nova-esque if I recall correctly. I don't own it.

I've heard Friendly Fire, and with the exception of one song (headlights) like it a lot. Now as far as his "Yes, I'm a Witch" mother, my ears can do very nicely without her.

Ha HA! Why must we thrown in a Yoko snide everytime something connected to her comes up. I really dont get it.

I ordered "Friendly Fire" and also received "Fly" by Yoko Ono the same time. Believe me, this album on a great audio system sounds totally different from the HQ rip I have on my Ipod. Its almost entirely a different album now. I really, really like it, despite her 'wailing' every now and then. And the album closers are STUPENDOUS

That said, Sean's latest album "Friendly Fire" has perhaps his best song on it. Its called "Dead Meat" - one of those instantly memorable chorus and verse songs in the best sense of the word.

'cause I read another thread which praised Yoko up and down. I sampled almost every track off the "Witch" CD and was absolutely flabbergasted that others liked it so much. To each his/her own (I guess). Also check out Julian's "Photograph Smile", also a most excellent album.

This album is not lighthearted. The things he went through before he was inspirited to write these songs is not something minimal in effect... though his first album, Into the Sun, is without a doubt a happy enough album to chill out to.
