Help with an instrumental rock mix CD.
Looking for ideas of things to put on a mix CD of rock instrumentals. Anyone have suggestions?
Here's what I have so far: Allmans - Liz Reed (studio) Cream - Steppin' Out Santana - Samba Pa Ti Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover this ELO instrumental - the name is entirely escaping me right now. SRV - Little Wing? Rush - YYZ? Something else? Point me in the right direction. |
My favorite 2 Rush instrumentals are La Villa Strangiato and The Main Monkey Business (from the latest release).

For the "Tom Brady Sucks Instrumental Rock CD" for Dave, I nominate Satriani's Surfing with the Alien.

Pearl Jam's Brother from the Lost Dogs b-sides/rarities collection.
|
"Bareback" from the Darkness
"Call of Ctulu (sp?)" and "Orion" by Metallica "Fractured Mirror" by Ace Frehley |
"Woodpecker from Mars" Faith No More
|
"Rumble" by Link Wray

Other ideas: Battle Without Honor or Humanity - Tomoyasu Hotei (from Kill Bill Vol. 1 and a bunch of commercials) Malignant Narcissism - Rush Jaws of Life - John Pertucci Wizards in Winter - Trans Siberian Orchestra (used in the youtube video with all the christmas lights) |
I'm guessing the ELO song is "Fire on High".
Rhino released a five volume rock instrumental set that is amazing, but might not be exactly what you are looking for. You can get the discs separately though. http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Instrumen...3699252&sr=8-6 |
Battle without Honor or Humanity slipped my mind as well....

I thought I'd list the more "commonly known" songs is all. My personal favorites are "I Would Love To", "Sisters", and "Answers/The Riddle". |
How could I forget? "Seen Your Video" by the Replacements!!!
|
Motley Crue's Wildside is really good. Just like the version with vocals, except it's without vocals.
|
Most of the stuff by Man or Astroman, but it can be kind've spacy/ethereal sounding.
Would Dick Dale work for a lil' surf-rock vibe? Beachwood Sparks' "Ballad of Never Rider" would work too. |
Iron Maiden - "Losfer Words"
