sauce07 10-15-07 10:25 PM

scarredgod 10-15-07 10:46 PM

King Diamond is the best, period. glad to see he made it.

johnbook 10-15-07 11:24 PM

Total B.S without the master himelf - Rob Halford

Also..What about..

Dave Mustaine - Megadeth
David Wayne - Metal Church
Brian Johnson - AC/DC

Josh-da-man 10-16-07 05:06 AM

G. G. Allin

cdollaz 10-16-07 06:58 AM

Geoff Tate spanks most of those also.

Lateralus 10-16-07 07:35 AM

I'm not a big Rob Halford fan but he should be on the list.

I got to give credit though they do have Al Jourgensen and Mike Patton which I believe are two of the best.

Jason 10-16-07 08:06 AM

I've seen some bullshit lists in my day, but damn!

No Halford? No Glen Hughes? No Ray Gillen? Waaaay to much modern shit, too many non-metal acts (RATM, Tool). Was this list written by Hot Topic employees?

edstein 10-16-07 08:09 AM

Nice to see MJK on the list. And WTF, no Geoff Tate or Rob Halford?

DVD Josh 10-16-07 09:38 AM

Tate/Halford aside, Anselmo has always been my favorite.

dick_grayson 10-16-07 09:39 AM

they didn't even spell Glenn's name right (Danzig)

xfilefanfreak 10-16-07 09:41 AM

vince neil gets my vote

Angus is the defacto frontman of AC/DC....Brian Johnson is just there for the voice.

wm lopez 10-16-07 10:24 AM

Yeah I would definitely refer to Led Zeppelin as metal before AFI.

dick_grayson 10-16-07 10:53 AM

here are some of my thoughts:

Led Zeppelin is hard rock.

The Misfits were punk. Danzig (solo) is hard rock.

AFI is pop-punk (a genre I don't even acknowledge)

GnR - is Hard Rock
ACDC is Hard Rock
Korn - shit

Zack De La Rocha (Rage Against the machine) - definitely not metal

Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle) - not metal

M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) - what the fuck has this band done to deserve to be on this list?

islandclaws 10-16-07 10:58 AM

Chuck Schuldiner!

Pretty good list, except for some glaring omissions.

cdollaz 10-16-07 11:25 AM

I was wavering on Patton being metal. But thinking about alot of the Faith No More stuff, I think it is metal.

trying to discuss the merits of what should be included within a genre of music is tough, and really relies on how an individual defines it for themself. I have worked in the industry for years, everyone sees everything different and tries to convince you otherwise.

the line between them is just far too blurry in most cases, hard to put a label on anything these days, which is good IMO.

metal is one of the most diverse categories out there as well, but is of course just a evolution of rock, which is an evolution of blues, which is just an . . .(my point).

MetalGator311 10-16-07 04:37 PM

If Davy Havok is on the list, they certainly could have put Scott Weiland on there
