If you were stranded on an island and could only take 10 CDs...

So what are your top 10 CDs ever that you think everyone should own?

Two different questions, with vastly different answers. Just because I think someone should own a disc, doesn't necessarily mean I want to be stranded on an island with them.

yep. Two vastly different questions that would warrant a totally different response.

My Island 10
1. Dream Theater - Metropolis: Part 2: Scenes From a Memory
2. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime

4. Ayreon - The Human Equation
5. Frameshift - Absence of Empathy
6. O.S.I. - Office of Strategic Influence

and I know Greatest Hits are a cop-out but I'd add these two for 9 & 10:

9. the Beach Boys - Endless Summer
10. Telsa - Time's Makin' Changes

If I were stranded on an island, I'd be too depressed to listen to music.

I'd exchange The Beatles (Revolver) for Foo Fighters, and Van Morrison (Moondance) for Jimi Hendrix, but other than that we can hang on the same island.

[EDIT: I might also have to find a way to sneak on The New Radicals' CD and Bob Dylan (Blood on the Tracks).

I'd bring CD's that can generate the shiniest reflection to signal planes flying over since I wouldn't be able to play them on anything with no power on an island.

I'd bring 10 CDs, but then throw them in the ocean when I realize there's no electricity

Does this include greatest hits/double disc albums?

I was wondering the same thing. I guess, for the sake of arguement, there's a solar powered CD player with a battery backup.

If multi-disk CD set is considered one CD, then I'd take

Five different Books on CDs, very long books
Four collections of classical music / opera (like The Ring which is something like 20 disks long)
The Beach Boys greatest hits (something upbeat and summery)

That would be 120 to 150 worth of CDs to listen to.
