If you were stranded on an island and could only take 10 CDs...

So what are your top 10 CDs ever that you think everyone should own?

mndtrp 09-27-07 03:56 AM

Two different questions, with vastly different answers. Just because I think someone should own a disc, doesn't necessarily mean I want to be stranded on an island with them.

The Infidel 09-27-07 06:39 AM

Gee, I'm not sure. What was my answer the last time this thread subject came up?

whaaat 09-27-07 08:25 AM

My desert island disc, as of right now (ask me tomorrow and you'd get a different answer) and in no particular order:

Emitt Rhodes - s/t
Lewis Taylor - s/t
Lewis Taylor - Lewis II
Lewis Taylor - The Lost Album
Miles Davis - In A Silent Way
db Clifford - Recyclable
Beach Boys - Sunflower
June & the Exit Wounds - "A Little More Haven Hamilton, Please"
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything

The title was a lighthanded try at humor...

I'd exchange The Beatles (Revolver) for Foo Fighters, and Van Morrison (Moondance) for Jimi Hendrix, but other than that we can hang on the same island.

[EDIT: I might also have to find a way to sneak on The New Radicals' CD and Bob Dylan (Blood on the Tracks).

Does this include greatest hits/double disc albums?

I was wondering the same thing. I guess, for the sake of arguement, there's a solar powered CD player with a battery backup.

If multi-disk CD set is considered one CD, then I'd take

Five different Books on CDs, very long books
Four collections of classical music / opera (like The Ring which is something like 20 disks long)
The Beach Boys greatest hits (something upbeat and summery)

That would be 120 to 150 worth of CDs to listen to.

Scorpio 09-28-07 12:21 AM

  • The Police - Synchronicity
  • Peter Gabriel - So
  • David Dunne - Do You Think I'm Crazy?
  • Deacon Blue - Raintown
  • Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
  • Depeche Mode - Violator
  • Led Zeppelin - IV
  • Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars
  • Siouxsie & The Banshees - Tinderbox
  • Steely Dan - Aja
