White Stripes cancel remainder of U.S. tour

... because Meg has "acute anxiety." Read the story here.

Damn it, I had good tickets for the show in Lincoln, Neb.

It really threw a kink in ACL Fest plans. They cancelled to close to the date (this Saturday) to get another headliner in so now Muse is headlining the biggest night of one of the biggest festivals in the country. I like Muse alright, but they're nowhere near big enough to really justify that spot, IMO.

While I like TWS a great deal, I don't think too many people will end up sorry that Muse is now the headliner. They are amazing live.

They we're up against Arcade Fire anyway. Now your problem is solved!

SOmehow I don't think White Stripes and Muse fans intersect to a large degree

Now for the Truth: "Jack White cancels rest of White Stripes tour to push out new Raconteurs album".

Come here Meg, let me take away your anxiety....

Does she add more than drumming? I'm sure most drummers with an average ability could learn the songs in 2 days or so. Why not just replace her for the remainder of the tour?

cungar 09-12-07 10:32 PM

Set up a drum machine and change the bill to The White Stripe

Chaza 09-13-07 01:16 AM

Muse is a fantastic live band, so I'm sure they will fit the bill perfectly. I'm a fan of the White Stripes, but they could use a break to let Meg calm down.

You obviously know nothing about what makes the White Stripes a great band.

First Rodrigo y Gabriela and now the White Stripes. Glad I didn't purchase tickets to ACL this year.

I'm not using my ACL tix now with this and Amy Winehouse. It's not even worth the hassle since those were the two I was looking forward to the most. Only Gotan Project really interested me other than them. plus I am worn out from doing some theatre work. Getting rid of them on Craigslist. I will never buy ACL tix again.

Let's be serious. We know there's a chemistry between Jack and Meg that adds a lot of charm to the band and presents a novel package as far as being a rare two-person band, but Jack White is about 90% of why they are a great band. I agree that he should never replace Meg but let's keep it real.

Sure, Jack White is and always will be the creative force behind the band. That's not for debate. The idea that they should just hire another drummer to complete the tour though goes against the whole idea of why they are a great band. The Raconteurs have proven that Jack White can write songs for another band but it's just not the same. Their dynamic, their chemistry goes a long way into what makes them special.

I think we agree on all points

You're nine posts late with that joke, but otherwise a nice effort.

As someone who can certainly relate to Meg's dilema i wish her the very best.
