Sorry, I'm a fan of Patti Smith, not Patty Smyth. If you want to turn people on to classic rock of the '80s, you should go for this hard-rockin' tune.

It was an awful song then, it's an awful song now, but she was super cute.

Patty Smyth rocks! I think she ended up marrying Andre Agassi or some other tennis player.

That music video is one of the first I recall seeing on MTV at a friends house. Still love this song strongly.

What's the definition of "a younger folk?"

And that song wasn't all that great...

Now this...

to the Rick Astley as well.

I have never liked Scandal.

"The Warrior" is one my most hated 80's songs ever.

Never cared for Goodbye To You or The Warrior. There is one really good Scandal song on the EP called Another Bad Love.

McEnroe, actually.

Another factoid: apparently she was asked to replace David Lee Roth in Van Halen when he first left in '85.

Oh cool - I think I remember Alison Smith's character (Jennie) singing this song on a "Kate and Allie" episode. I know, kinda obscure.

I did/do like "The Warrior" better though.

Too bad that at least in Canada, the "younger folks" will be more familiar with "Tarzan Boy" as the Listerine song commercial.

As a 24-year old this thread makes me wish I was older in the 80's so I could truly appreciate this fantastic music as it as being made. If you care to look deep enough, that decade had some incredibly great songs--it's no wonder more and more bands of today are simulating that style of music.

As a rock fan since my early childhood in the '60s (Beatles, Monkees, Stones, Hendrix, anyone?), I have to say that the '80's were the pinnacle as far as both creativity and diversity go. In the 90's there were a few good things, but very little new stuff is even fun to listen to since about 2000 or so, IMNSHO.

The early 80's were brilliant.
