Ramones live DVD anthology coming 10/2

The Ramones Come Alive on New DVD Anthology

Rhino's all riled up and ready to let go of It's Alive 1974-1996, a live DVD anthology that collects more than 100 of the best-loved shout-alongs from punk icons the Ramones, cranked out at a breakneck clip over the band's twenty-two year history on many of the world's great stages.

The collection-- which follows the band from their CBGB infancy all the way to Argentina in the spring preceding their 1996 farewell tour-- is sure to keep the Jackies and Judies in your life anything but sedate for over four hours. It's Alive hits shelves October 2; a very inelegant-looking but painstakingly detailed tracklist for the thing follows the jump.

A lot of repetition, but I made a rough count and there are 118 songs on this and 71 unique songs. Kinda overkill but Amazon is listing it for $13.99 so you can't really go wrong with that.

That's a lot of live Ramones. However, the vintage material on End of the Century makes me think that this will definitely be worth cecking out. I guess we'll see how the quality is...

I wish there was more material from the Too Tough Too Die, Mondo Bizarro, and Adios Amigos eras as those were all really good albums.

I am so there. I read about this last week and it sounds awesome. There are a LOT of Ramones TV performances out there and I can't wait to have a lot of them in one place.

I agree, a bit on the overkill side but at 13.99 it's a no brainer for me.

absolutely NO overkill as far as im concerned, no such thing.

I would love the Ramones doing sets like the Kissology ones. I would track down all the bonus discs and everything. im sorry but i want EVERYTHING.

Me too. I've known about this set for about a year (even had some input on it - thanks Dave!), and I can hardly wait for it. And it's cheap, too!!!

Picked this up yesterday for $11.99 at BB (not bad for a 2 DVD set with nice packaging). If you're a hardcore fan, you will love every minute (I did). If you're a casual fan, this might be the only DVD by them you'd ever want.

I cannot recommend this one highly enough!!!

The quality of the first disc is really bad for about 80% of it. Probably will not watch it much. Second disc is great.

No offense, cdollaz, but I've got to respectfully disagree. very little of the footage on the first DVD was recorded with any intention of anyone ever seeing it; most of it was recorded in bars with single-camera-set-ups for the bar's/band's use, Just the fact that any of it still exists to be seen is incredible, and quite cool, IMNSHO.

The opening footage of them at CBGBs is priceless; they're so primitive in it, it makes every crappy band I was in in the late 70's look like Rush by comparison. But they had/have a vibe unlike anything Rush could ever wish for on their pillows at night, LOL.

Cool stuff, all of it.

Yeah, I can forgive a lot of poor a/v quality when it comes to thirty year old concert footage.

The simple fact is, at the time there was no way of releasing a lot of that stuff. Unless a band was as big as Led Zeppelin, who released TSRTS, or KISS doing concerts for television broadcast, there really wasn't any kind of market for selling a small-time punk band playing in a club. We're lucky to have recorded concerts in any quality.
