So far, I really like it. It's more joyous and fun than the past few solo original albums. How long has it been since we last heard a bouncy sax solo from Clarance? Probably Born in the USA. Well, those solos as well as some nice Hammond B3 solos from Danny Federici finally make their most welcome return.

And in case anyone was wondering about the Grammys, the end of the eligibility period was 9/30/07, however Columbia actually released a vinyl version last week to make Magic eligible.

Listen to the lyrics. They're anything but joyous and fun.

Does anyone else think it's funny that when Bruce sings "Your own worse enemy is coming to town", it sounds almost exactly like the band's distinctive take on "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"?

Great album. A lot of recycled lyrics and music, but a truly great listen with a dark underbelly.

I wish it had been shorter. Although I think this is his best album since Tunnel Of Love, there are a few filler tunes. Nice to hear some rockin' guitars.

I don't think there's a weak song on the album. I love it and can't stop listening.

I saw BS&ESB when they were here in Philly on Oct. 5, it was a great show, although a little short for Bruce ("only" 2 hrs, 20 mins.) but the band played with a lot of energy.

I have to say that this album is coming closer and closer to cracking my top ten for the year, which would make it two years in a row that the boss has had a position on my top ten for the year list.

I really like "Your Own Worst Enemy" and "Girls in Their Summer Clothes".

Just a note here : Itunes has put out a live EP "Magic Tour Highlights" for charity. It contains just four tracks, in audio and video formats.

1: Always A Friend (f/ Alajandro Escovido)
2: Ghost Of Tom Joad (f/ Tom Morello)
3: Turn, Turn, Turn! (f/ Roger McGuinn)
4: 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) (f/ Danny Federici in his last performance)

The EP is $7.98, which seems a touch steep, but all artists, publishing and songwriting fees were waived and all proceeds go to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund. I think it's a nice gesture.

I was wrong. There isn't any filler on this. Took a few listens to conclude my mistake. Very pleased I caught him live a couple of months ago. Simply the best live act around. The only bummer was not having "Girls In Summer Clothes" on the bill.

I finally got the album a couple of months ago. I like that some of the material is a return to the exuberance of his "chicks and rides" days, but the album's production is muddy and heavy. A clear, sprightly treatment would have been better.

1. You'll be Comin' Down
2. Girls in Their Summer Clothes
3. Radio Nowhere
4. I'll Work for Your Love

I don't care for the title song and "Devil's Arcade".

As I said in some other thread, I completely agree. This is one of the worst sounding albums Ive heard in a while, it sounds like it was purposely engineered to be compressed into a 64 kbps MP3 and played through tinny speakers. The levels are way, way too high and the mix is incredibly indistinct. This album's engineering is a definitive example of the volume wars. It's too bad because it's a great set of songs.
