I'm a fan of both West's and 50's so I'll actually be buying both cds. I'd be very surprised if Kanye did outsell 50 in the first week.

I wonder how it can be threadcrapping when the OP's title is "Good News! 50 Cent to Quit if Outsold by Kanye West".

great thread

i'd choose kanye over 50. kanye is a talented studio wizard, right? 50's super debut sounded like dr. dre with some guy rapping who had a speech impediment.

if west can only make a tight, consistent album. if 50 can get some good production...

sweet battle of two artists that i don't really care about.

Kanye does say a lot of stupid, self-centered crap. But he also gets off a good line every now and then.

(still love that look on Mike Meyers' face)

plus, musically there's really no comparison. I agree that Kanye is preachy even in his music, and I've never paid money for one of his CDs... but his rhymes and the way he approaches the culture of hip-hop are both at least more interesting and involving than anything Curtis has done... ever.

I might buy two Kanye CDs.

*edit*

I know 50 will never stop. He's as likely to retire as Ozzy Osbourne.

Still... maybe he'll stick to producing other peoples' mediocre tracks for a few years.

Man...if I actually believed he'd quit, I'd buy five copies of Kanye's new CD.

Yeah, I was dying to use my "suffering/Sept 11" zinger after reading the release date in the Kanye thread, but I realized that'd be a .

That's why I started my own thread!

Feel free to all you want!

Also I think its weird that no one notices this is just a big PR stunt by 50. Hasn’t it been said that all press is good press, just as long as they’re talking about you?

It was said today that Kanye's might be delayed again. Doh! Imagine what 50 will say now...

HHNLive.com has confirmed with the Kanye West camp that his new album "Graduation" has not been pushed back and will still be released Sept. 11th.

Erroneous reports by websites such as Mediatakeout.com and HipHopGame.com stated that Kanye's new album had been pushed back, with additional details being provided by MediaTakeout.com saying that the push back was a result of wanting to avoid negative publicity going head to head with 50 Cent. These reports are completely false.

Kanye West's new album, "Graduation", is in stores and online Sept. 11th. The album features the singles "Stronger" and "Can't Tell Me Nothing".

The best-selling album of 2005 was The Emancipation of Mimi, by Mariah Carey.

This is from wiki. I think that The Massacre was # 2.

I actually think Kanye's new single is worlds better than the tracks I've heard from 50's new one.

If you're talking about "Stronger", yeah it is worlds better...

...when listening to it on Daft Punk's album.

I think "Stronger" is catchy. I've certainly left it on and turned up the volume when it has come on XM. Another one of those hate the artist/love the song.

Kanye thrashes 50 Cent in first-day sales race

By Geoff Mayfield

2 hours, 31 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - Kanye West looks set to win the closely watched duel with rival rapper 50 Cent for the No. 1 slot on next week's U.S. pop album chart, according to preliminary sales data issued Wednesday.

West's "Graduation" sold an estimated 437,000 copies during its first day of release Tuesday, ahead of 310,000 for 50 Cent's "Curtis" and 107,000 for country star Kenny Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates," according to a new "Building Chart" devised by tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan.

The Building Chart gives an early look at how the race is shaping up for SoundScan's final charts, which post projected national sales each Wednesday morning, extrapolated from a panel of merchants representing more than 90% of the U.S. music market.

Some pundits project West will surpass 750,000 copies for the week, breaking the 2007 record of 623,000 copies held by rock band Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight." But West did better with his last album, 2005's "Late Registration," which debuted with 860,000 copies. 50 Cent also will fall far short of the 1.1 million start for his last album, 2005's "The Massacre."

Of course we all know by now that this 'feud' was a sales ploy by 50 & Kanye to generate more album sales, so no chance of 50 Cent quitting. Especially since he said in an interview that his next album is already 80% complete.

You have to give Kanye West credit for the mere fact he didn't invent some stupid rap name for himself. Now if he pulls a Puffy Diddy and starts changing his name every week I'll revoke that credit.

That's kind of sad that we have to give someone credit for using their real name.

Hey this is pop music in 2007. You take what you can get cause there ain't a lot of there there. It's like trying to find high culture in a trailer park.

He never said he'd quit, he said he wouldn't release any more solo material. A new G-Unit CD, or any new group he starts, will not be solo material. He could just release material as Curtis Jackson, that's not 50 Cent.

And even if he does, it's not like someone can sue him for the money they spent on Kanye's CD.
