Need suggestions for "girls weekend" music.

Every year the wife and her friends go on a trip for the weekend. And every year I make a cd for them to listen to on the trip. It has become a tradition and gets me lots of brownie points. The other gals love the music I select.

There isn't a lot of rhyme or reason to the songs, but I always give them some old and some new, and some songs that are uniquely "girl" songs, such as Bitch by Meredith Brooks, etc.

Well, I need to come up with around 18 songs. They are ages 33-39. They like 80s stuff, but I have used most of those. But I need as many suggestions as I can get. I also love to come up with songs that they don't normally hear. I would guess the majority of them listen to country, and I won't put any country on the cd.

So what new hit songs are out there, and what good "bitch" songs can you help me think up?

Thanks.

"before he cheats" carrie underwood
"extrodinary" liz phair
"do something" britney spears
"play with fire" hilary duff
"fuck the pain away" peaches (actually, don't use that one, unless you want your wife and her friends hearing the opening line "suckin on my titties like you want me callin me, check out my pussy behind its fine all the time, huh what..."

thats all i got.
Edit
"rich" or "date with a night" Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Call me when your sober" evanesance
"ego" the sounds (and they'd probably like the 80's style keyboards
"suck" kittie
"rehab" amy winehouse
"everything's wonderfull" or "not big" lilly allen.

Nellie McKay - just about anything from Get Away From Me. Try 'Ding Dong' or 'The Dog Song'? Or the dripping with sarcasm, 'I Wanna Get Married'.

Why no country? Sounds like something from Miranda Lambert's Crazy Ex-girlfriend would be perfect for this mix. http://www.myspace.com/mirandalambert

Maybe Tori Amos - Big Wheel or Bouncing Off Clouds from her latest album American Doll Posse.

How about The Detroit Cobras - I Wanna Know What's Going On or Leave My Kitten Alone. Or anything from their Life, Love And Leaving album, if they'd like more of a 60s Girl Group sound. www.myspace.com/thedetroitcobras

Giant Drag - This Isn't It, Kevin Is Gay http://www.myspace.com/giantdrag
Leona Naess - I Tried to Rock You but You Only Roll
Regina Spektor - On the Radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSJQ1St1OnQ
or Fidelity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGTDRztaCCw
Dixie Chicks - Not Ready to Make Nice

Something from the Patti Smith cover album, Twelve? Everybody Wants To Rule The World or Gimme Shelter or White Rabbit?

I strongly recommend "Girls Like Me" and "Shelley's Boyfriend" from Bonnie Hayes's 1982 album "Good Clean Fun." The album has never been released on CD, but Bonnie lets you download them for free. Go here and scroll down to the bottom:

Oh yeah! Since they're women on a raod trip, and they want obscure girl music from the 80s, I also recommend the 1982 album "Convertible Music" by Josie Cotton. It is available on CD.

Given the name of the album, what could be better for such a road trip?

Lilly Allen's album is great. Try "Smile" and "LDN" Upbeat, fun and sarcasm all in one!
Scissor Sisters "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" is a good, fun one as well.
You can go WWWAAAYYY back to the early 80's and use M's "Pop Muzik" if you want.

Much as I loathe her, Amy Winehouse seems to be someone you might think about.

Here is a guaranteed success, and I'm pretty sure they haven't heard it before:

"Vanilla" by Tanya Donelly

It's a catchy song, and Tanya is very talented (former leader of the group Belly)

There are a lot of good things you could pull from Heather Nova.

http://www.heathernova.com/

Also, there are some good songs off of the Felicity soundtrack that could work - some older. Kate Bush for example.

Try something off the new Mandy Moore album, Wild Hope. This one caught me by surprise, it's actually quite a decent record.

Mature, but fun; country-ish, but not played on country radio; good driving music:
Lucinda Williams - "Can't Let Go"
Gillian Welch - "Look At Miss Ohio" or "My First Lover"

70s/80s:
Lene Lovich - "Lucky Number" http://youtube.com/watch?v=6eAw29VRIiU
The Pretenders

90s/00s:
The Breeders
PJ Harvey - maybe something from the Stories From The City... album
Boss Hog - "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" or "Get It While You Wait"
Marianne Faithfull - "My Friends Have" free download at official site: http://anti.com/media.php?id=23
Cibo Matto

classic:
Big Mama Thornton - "Hound Dog"

The Pierces:
"Lights On" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoMv75zmeHg (this is a fan-made video, but you'll get to hear the song)
"Boring" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXbk3OL-t-s

Amy Lavere:
"Killing Him" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMYcgzNN9pg

Mary Prankster:
Pretty much ALL of her songs, but I'll throw out "The World Is Full of Bastards", "The Bottle's Talking Now", "Tell Your Friends (Parts One and Deux)", "Mata Hari", "New Tricks" (all on iTunes or through me )

Anya Marina:
"Clean and Sober" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93pRgVHhBD0
"Sociopath" (check iTunes for clip)

Agree with the Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse suggestions.

Why not Mika? He sounds like a girl, at times.
"Grace Kelly" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzA0nG_PurQ
"Lollipop" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVtk7mIEfg8
"Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcRiXOONqf0

"Venus" by Bananarama, "Rich Girl" by Gwen Stefani, "Eyes Like Yours" "Hips Dont Lie" by Shakira, "Take Your Mama" by Scissor Sisters. Theres always Sheryl Crow's "Soak up the Sun", and "Real Gone" (from the CARS movie), "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.
"Just a Ride" by Jem is a good driving song

Josie Cotton. Didn't she sing Johnny are you Queer? on the Valley Girl Soundtrack?

Thanks much. I've used a few Big and Rich in the past, and I hate to repeat. Looks like some great suggestions. I will test out a few.

I recently made a CD for one of my lady friends for her "girls only" trip to Vegas. I scored some major brownie points as well!
Here are a couple of mp3s of the songs she and her girlfriends said they really liked:

*The Gossip - Listen Up
(source: Kill Rock Stars)

*The Hot Toddies - Jaguar Love
(source: Sound of Indie)
