Not familiar with this album. Is it because it's a downer?

This Mortal Coil - Blood

Actually, change "rainy" to "thunderstorms" and "day" to "night" and you have the perfect time to listen to this gem.

Geez. As I opened this thread, I was thinking and the first choice that popped in my head was: "anything by Nick Drake".

Seems that we're on the same page, cungar.

And, yes, Daytripper, Nick Drake is a bit of a downer. But it doesn't get much better as downers go...

More down than Portishead?

Regardless....I'm on it. Thanks!

Here's an offbeat choice:

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (Soundtrack) -
bluesy, jazzy, weird (of course) with just a hint of menace, I think it's perfect for dark, rainy days. It's also great for late night, solitary driving (which I used to do alot until gasoline became so expensive!).

I have a tendency to play the Underworld album "Dubnobasswithmyheadman" on rainy days.

Anything by Boards of Canada

Most music sounds better during rainy days or at night.

I like that line of thinking, but I would go with the Twin Peaks TV Soundtrack, as it is just a much better album.

Me too.

I would have gone with Pink Moon, though.

Rainy day for me = relaxing inside. So I would probably go with Radiohead - The Bends.

Five Leaves would have been my 1st pick, Now & Again by The Grapes Of Wrath is another great rainy day choice, plus it's got the supporting album art...
