Again? Wow, these guys are prolific. I did like the last album quite a bit (I turn my camera on is simply awesome).

I'm ashamed to say I had no idea who these guys were until I saw "Stranger Than Fiction" this past year. As soon as I got home from seeing that, I went to Amazon.com to check out who was on the soundtrack. Then went to iTunes and bought everything they've done. They are awesome!

Same for me, just different movie -- The Puffy Chair.

I can't wait for their new album.

You're right - then he'd know that 10 Spoon tracks would be a lot closer to 25 minutes...

Been listening to this for the last few days (FWIW, I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out), and it's really good - typical Spoon, no drastic changes from their last couple albums, but that wasn't needed anyways.

Oh, and it's 36 minutes long
I hope they add a couple bonus/hidden tracks to the final album to bring it closer to 40 minutes.

Came here to post exactly that. It's really no different from any other Spoon record, which for me, means half good songs, and half crap.

Actually, I think it's their most consistent album yet - while Gimme Fiction (along with most of their albums) had a few songs that are stronger than anything on Gax5, it also had a few songs far weaker than anything on Ga.

New album will be available at Target next week for $7.98 (cheapest around) and w/a bonus disc.

I'm definitely picking it up there.

So I listened to the bonus disc, and while it's pretty out there, it's a very cool bonus. It's about 22 minutes long, with 12 tracks. The tracks are all over the place, from instrumental "sound-scapes" to demo sounding songs to remixes of album tracks. The whole thing seems like a collection of studio out-takes and experiments, mixed and edited to flow together in order to make this cd seem more cohesive than it would otherwise. So it's not at all something I would give the non-Spoon fan to listen to, but it's a cool little bonus for the fans, especially those who have already downloaded the album, it's a no-brainer at $7, considering it should be scarce soon enough.

Should have signed up with emusic.com instead. Could have downloaded their stuff much cheaper with no DRM.

i was on the fence about my like for spoon, but this album is really neat, catchy, and rockin. you can't beat the 9.99 bb price for the album + 22minute bonus disc.

4.5/5
