I love that song and it kicks even more ass live.

Regardless of her other output, that song is punk. fucking. rock.

From bjork.com:

NPR Music and WNYC (New York's Public Radio) will offer a live Web stream of Björk’s sold-out performance from the United Palace in New York City on Saturday, May 5. The concert will be streamed live at http://www.NPR.org/music. WNYC will offer an encore broadcast on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. EST both on the radio and via Web stream at http://www.WNYC.org. Contrary to reports a free mp3 is not on the cards.

I had to do something I've never done for a new release... had to order it online. NOBODY has this advertised in the paper this week, yet freaking Paula Abdul's Greatest Hits merits an advertisement? Same thing happened with Tori's cd last week, only Target promoted it.

Come on, Tori and Bjork are two of the most anticipated May releases yet the stores would rather advertise Paula Abdul? serious, W T F?

Paula is on a top tv show that appeals to the masses and Bjork is only known for wearing the Swan dress by that same group?

I know...it sucks.

It sucks HARD. nothingfails is right. There's NO excuse why Bjork or Tori isn't listed in these circulars.

And, taking the opportunity since it was mentioned, I still don't understand what was wrong with her dress...

Paula's known to the kids for her judging, not her singing. Musically, a new Greatest Hits cd from her is about as relevant as Debbie Gibson or Jody Watley.

Bjork and Tori OTOH are still making great music that continue to challenge the listeners, and unlike Paula (who vanished after her pop career died out in the mid-90's before AI came out), they've never gone away.

Especially considering Volta is considered a throwback to the Post/Homogenic sound for Bjork, I think it's just a teeny bit more anticipated than the umpteenth repackaged hits collection by a former 1980's pop star who most people watching her current series aren't even aware that she was a hitmaker in her time.

I agree. Granted, it's been well established that Bjork and Tori are cult artists who are never going to cross over and appeal to the quantity of masses who buy Beyonce and Gwen Stefani cd's, but you'd think they're both big enough in name that Best Buy or Circuit City would still treat their new releases as something worth throwing on sale for $9.99 or something the week they come out. I'm a huge Bjork fan and a modest Tori fan (I love some of her work, some other work is just there to me) but I would definately say both albums were anticipated enough that they deserved more promotion than they got. Especially considering that Bjork's cd has Timbaland on it, someone who singlehandedly rescued Nelly Furtado from pop oblivion last year, you'd think that Best Buy or something would try to use his participation to get more people to run out to buy Volta.

$13.99 at Best Buy for the regular edition (the only one they had).

Wow, the packaging sucks.

i checked everywhere, and the LOWEST PRICE out of all the major retailers was $13.99. what the hell? that's usually a price for special editions on day of release.

and yes, this release takes the cake for worst packaging in the past 5 years, i think. seriously, did someone think this would be cool?!

Would someone describe the packaging? It seemed like a pretty standard digipack when I briefly looked at it.

it folds in with two "flaps" on the side, and the cover photo is actually a sticker that holds it together. then folds upward another flap with the "booklet" jammed inside. it's flimsy, overpriced, and ridiculous. once you open it, it's damn near impossible to put back together.

i laugh at those who complained about her family tree packaging. i think the bjork squad must do this on purpose to laugh at us fans.

I couldn't wait and I may do a rare "Double Dip" for the cd/dvd. I HAD to have Volta today at fucked up Barnes & Nobles pricing.

2 great cd's from RUSH and Bjork in 2007. I know this may sound freakish to you guys but I'm done buying CD's for the next 2 years or if either one releases someting new....which ever comes first.

I'm with you Robo, I will most likely double dip on the CD/DVD edition when it comes out.

I actually like the packaging. Reminds me of the banana peel on the "Velvet Underground and Nico" album.

Is there a concrete release date for the CD/DVD? I will gladly doubledip and eBay the original edition. With Bjork, I couldn't wait to pick it up. No regrets.

I'm sure I can unload the original edition for $10.00 later this month. Well worth the extra $4.xx to listen to it for the next couple weeks.

The Dull Flame of Desire is astounding. One of Bjork's best tracks. If you guys haven't picked up Antony & The Johnsons' two albums, they're well worth it.
