Screw 'em. I won't buy any of them, if this is how they want to market it.

Seems like a very valid complaint to anyone that doesn't just download shit and it doesn't affect anyway. The title track only at Target thing really is a kick in the nuts, even if the song sucks and was left off the standard release for that reason.

Pitchfork may be whiny and the headline is of course a bit harsh but the overall premise is pretty on point if you ask me. I for one hate exclusive tracks even when they are only available at one store. The idea of doing three exclusives and three different stores is pretty ridiculous. It really doesn't seem to serve any purpose other then trying to get people to buy multiple copies of the album. At least if it was one store then it's a clear band (or label)/retail establishment promotion.

Pardon me, I just never can turn down an opportunity to say something negative about pitchfork. But yeah, I agree that it does seem like they are trying to gauge fans for money.

I will gladly purchase one copy of the album. I will however, "acquire" the remaining bonus tracks without having to purchase additional copies.

Honestly, I would venture to guess that most of these bonus tracks are probably not worth it under any circumstance. Billy tends to be right on with what he does and doesn't put on an album (Zero EP excepted).

Doomsday clock music and riffage is great, my problem with it is Corgan's dry vocals in front of the mix.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Kinda reminds me of the Zwan album where he doesn't really sing on any songs. His voice just kinda crawls alongside them (like the chorus of "The Everlasting Gaze" for example).

Well, as much as I abhor this practice of store-exclusives, I would've ended up buying it at Best Buy (or Target) anyways, as they would likely have the lowest prices (not to mention all the indy record stores in my neck of the woods went out of business long ago).

Now the question is, which is the superior bonus track?

I hear that. "Zero" is easily the CD i listen to most from the "Aeroplane" boxset.

I find the '1979' and '33' onres to be the best, but the Zero one is pretty great as well.

BWBW is the best of those singles.

Clones, You're All I've Got Tonight, and Destination Unknown are all AWESOME songs.

The Zero single would be second, for Pistachio Medley.

I didn't see anyone mention this yet...it looks like there's going to be a limited edition available at certain places. I'm not sure what the LE includes, but right now it looks to only include a booklet of some sort. The crappy thing is that I doubt the LE at Best Buy includes the bonus track....so it'll be an either/or situation.

I am sure the band has limited say in how the record label markets its music.

And if it was about gauging fans for money, do you really think they would have charged 20$ and play a club in north carolina?

Come on people, think.

5 versions - regular edition with 12 songs... target with one bonus track... best buy regular edition with one bonus track... deluxe limited edition with booklet... and itunes version with one bonus track... and according to the best buy web site, the deluxe edition with booklet does NOT come with the best buy exclusive bonus track... you have to buy the "regular" edition there for that song...

That's pretty lame... looks like the regular BB version for me. I'll find a way to get the other songs. Itunes won't let you download just the one track right?

First off, I hate this horrible market trend.

However, sirendisc.com lists 'Death From Above' as the b-side to the UK 'Tarantula' single [both CD and 7"] out next week. Just as a heads up.

Target it is, then.

Smashing Pumpkins are on AOL radio. Right now. I don't wanna install the program on my computer to play this. But apparently Zeitgeist is streaming on the channel. Anybody with AOL care to confirm? Because if this is correct a leak should be available by end of day today.
