Yeah, it was pretty much a god awful performance. They should've rescheduled rather than re-introduce themsevles to the US market that way.

On another note, "Straight Lines" is getting aton of radioplay here in Chicagoland. Wonder how it's doing across the country?

TGM 07-15-07 10:29 AM

Interesting title, considering they are no longer either of those things.

STR1PES 07-19-07 08:21 AM

Michael Corvin 07-19-07 09:43 AM

cd kicks major arse...gotta happy vibe to it...I dig it...cool signage on my cd cover also.

Michael Corvin 07-25-07 01:14 PM

Haven't listened yet, but that was fast shipping. Signed copy is a nice touch.

disc is mighty tasty, they have really come a long way from the basic but fun aggressive stuff they did back in the day. disc has a fun vibe, caberet(ish), and the vocals are simply outstanding. not like anything i have heard before either so that is always nice.

Really liking this right now - I downloaded it months ago but only listened to it once, but since buying it, it's gotten a few solid spins and the record is really well written IMO. EW picked it as the 'ew pick' of the week and with good reason.

Finally have spent some time with the album. Very good. I can't stop listening to Straight Lines, possibly my favorite song this year.

I can't stop thinking of the album as the bastard child of the Beatles and the Beach Boys for some reason.

That description just sold me. I'm picking this one up. :)

Van Dyke Parks who did the orchestrations for the Beach Boys did the orchestrations for this album & Diorama....thats probably why you are thinking Beach Boys.

I couldn't wait to hear the album, so I downloaded a torrent back in April, when it was released in Australia. I love it. They're one of my top three favourite bands, so I bought it, even though I downloaded a torrent that was of perfect quality. Overall, I think it's one of Silverchair's best and I cannot wait to see them TOMORROW NIGHT! It'll be my third time seeing them and second this year.

gerrythedon 07-31-07 10:07 PM

We're excited to report that the video clip for the band's hit single 'Straight Lines' has been added to the ever popular US music channel VH1! This would be the first time they've ever played a Silverchair video! If you would like to see the 'chair video played more often on VH1, then show your support by voting for the track online at the show's website.

Have you people never heard of Jellyfish? I caught quite a vibe from that band on this most excellent album.

Their set on Wednesday night in Toronto was great. They played a short set (an hour and fifteen or twenty minutes,) but it was really energetic and a lot of fun. I highly recommend checking this tour out.

starseed1981 08-03-07 09:01 AM

Seeing them at Lollapallooza this weekend. They are doing a meet and greet with the fans before and after they play. If I can figure out how to upload pics I will.

I was just about to post the exact same thing. I hear a huge Jellyfish vibe on this disc. Anyone digging Young Modern would probably also really love Dog Problems by The Format. One of my favorite albums from last year.

Michael Corvin 08-03-07 12:47 PM

Nope. Never heard of Jellyfish or The Format. Headed to lala to add it to the list. :)

Both band's are great - with Jellyfish easily being one of the most underrated bands of the last 20 years.
