Check this out....It's a live youtube clip of Fire In The Hole from rockin in the park '98. Never saw it before. Kind of makes me want to hear that second Van Halen album with Gary Cherone. I love this song, it rocks. Decent clip, nostalgic.
Also an interview there regarding the making of "3". They mention a double cd with Gary, looking back they should have done a double record with Gary Cherone since he had a very bried stint as their third VH vocalist. Alex also spills the beans that Ed wrote "3" and had it in his head to begin with. So there you have it.

Strange not seeing Mike out there. Gotta give Wolfie a chance. They all look ready to serve fans a killer live show. Now if only we could squeeze a new Van Halen album out of this, I'd be happy.

I'm fuckin' goin! If they schedule some Texas dates, that is. And they'd better release a DVD of the tour! They did with Sammy. They really should do a "Van Halen-ology" ala "KISSology".

Blabbermouth has a posting about how Zakk Wylde tried to get onstage and DLR "powned" him. Also had 2 videos on there.
Sounded good! I'd love to see Michael Anthony there, but Wolfgang is a good fit. I wonder if Eddie really wanted Michael out so he could just have his son in the band.

I was impressed. Assuming that DLR and rest of the VH camp can get along, this will me a massively successful tour. Whether or not it results in another studio album is another question. I may actually consider going now that I've seen the rehearsal footage.

As well as general NSFW issues for anyone minded to delve deep into the photobucket, there was a concern that the female in question might be underage.
The intention had been to keep this low profile and to deal with the matter with a light touch so that VH fans could just see the pictures of the band. Unfortunately, as often seems to be the case, that was not to be.
Apparently the pictures have cropped up before and when discussed in Adult Talk the links were removed then, also.
All references to the link are now gone from here, too.
Further edited to add: let's now keep the thread on-topic rather than discussing what you may or may not have missed &/or the rights and wrongs of mods having to edit posts.... [Benedict]

All Kinds of Awesomeness
The term “awesome” has become rather banal these days. It’s used for things such as seeing Charo in line in front of you at Whole Foods or your new jeans or that Thai restaurant on La Brea. But last night, I saw something that was truly awesome.
No doubt you have heard that Van Halen is back and David Lee Roth is ready to unleash his crazy (yeah, originally I didn’t care either). Last night at the Forum (where the Lakers and Van Halen played in the ‘70’s and 80’s, incidentally), Van Halen held a final tour rehearsal for 300 of their closest family and friends, and I found myself invited. We were ushered in and seated in the pit, 2nd row center.
What I was treated to was some serious old-school-kick-ass-rock-n-roll-the-likes-of- which-I-have-never-seen. David Lee Roth is 53 and Eddie and Alex Van Halen are 52 and 54, respectively. There was nothing 50ish about these guys. They looked and sounded just like they did in 1984, albeit missing their rocker hair . Laser show, wardrobe changes, giant remote controlled blimps with Van Halen logos cruising overhead, drum and guitar solos, NO recorded voice tracks – this was shit I haven’t seen in a long time. I didn’t realize how much I missed it. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and I’m not even a Van Halen fan.
One note is that this truly isn’t a reunion tour since the former bassist, Michael Anthony, was replaced with Eddie and Valerie Bertinelli’s 16-year-old son, Wolfgang. Wolfie was nervous as hell, but he held his own on bass. His voice really stood out (not in a good way) - they would be wise in turning down his vocals. But you know, the kid is 16 years old with acne! His voice probably hasn’t even finished changing.
Fantastic show.

This show looks like it's gonna kick some serious ass. It's going to be especially disappointing for a lot of people when it falls apart after three shows.

Got tix this morning for the Nassau Coliseum show in November - can't wait.
All 3 Tri-State area shows (Nassau, MSG, Continental) went on sale at the same time, and I'm guessing they are sold out by now - or close to it.

I hope the tour lasts until November so I can see them! I hear they're travelling in separate buses, so that should help.
Funny how this time around, no one pressed their luck asking if they were going to record a new album together. lol!
Sounds like the show last night was a home run!

Well, got my tickets today for Thursday at the United Center about 5 rows back (floor wise) on the side (up 4 rows). Hopefully they do well, and the set list is definitely looking good.
