Arcade Fire: Neon Bible - 3/6/07
'Neon Bible' is the name of the next Arcade Fire album. It will be released on March 6th. Here is the track listing:
Neon Bible: 1. Black Mirror 2. Keep The Car Running 3. Neon Bible 4. Intervention 5. Black Wave Bad Vibrations 6. Ocean of Noise 7. The Well & The Lighthouse 8. Antichrist Television Blues 9. Windowsill 10. No Cars Go 11. My Body is a Cage Over at the band's official website, you can hear the first single 'Black Mirror'. To hear this song at the site: click on 'Win', then 'Win's Scrapbook' and then 'black mirror'. Also over on iTunes, you can purchase another song titled 'Intervention'. Intervention is one amazing song. Wow! Both songs sound great. I can't wait to hear the rest of 'Neon Bible'! :) |
I have to go with faith on these two - I'm not particularly impressed with these two songs, but then again, I wasn't very impressed with Funeral the first few times I heard it either... until it became an obsession and one of my favorite albums ever.

I'm digging Black Mirror but I've been itching for some new Arcade Fire for some time. Can't wait for this one.
|
i was a little put off by "intervention" at first, but it quickly grew on me. i really really like it. i've been fiending for some more arcade fire material for what seems like forever. my "funeral" cd is worn the hell out!
|
I just listened to Black Mirror. Listened to Intervention a few days ago.
Like them both without being impressed or really into either. But while listening to Black Mirror, I just kept thinking this new Arcade Fire album is sure to disappoint no matter what. I can't think of many other bands who has such a huge weight on their shoulders for a second album. It could be a great recond and will still be considered a sophmore slump based on how great Funeral was. Also, these new songs (Intervention especially) seem a little bit more angry. And there is talk of bombs in both songs. Hopefully they don't go political. Also, Neon Bible is a shitty title. Almost as bad as Return from Cookie Mountain. |
from pitchfork:
Arcade Fire Reveal Tracklist, Release Date, More Shows Barely 24 hours after revealing their second album's first single, the band has unleashed a slew of information on their thirsty fans. According to a terrifically silly YouTube video posted by the band (and confirmed by their manager), Neon Bible will be out March 5 in Europe and March 6 in North America on Merge Records. It will contain the following songs, clips of which can be heard in said video: 01 Black Mirror 02 Keep the Car Running 03 Neon Bible 04 Intervention 05 Black Wave/ Bad Vibrations 06 Ocean of Noise 07 The Well and the Lighthouse 08 (Antichrist Television Blues) 09 Windowsill 10 No Cars Go 11 My Body Is a Cage The album is "written, arranged, performed and produced by the Arcade Fire", with artwork by Tracy Maurice, the same artist behind Funeral's design. |
Thanks for that info auto. I've updated the first post. Also here is the link to the Arcade Fire YouTube video:

No Cars Go? That is already out from their EP that came out before Funeral. Great song though.
|
So they must have reworked "No Cars Go"... I liked some of what I heard in that YouTube clip but I will reserve full judgment until I've heard the full album about 500 times, just like the first one.

The new cd is amazing. No Cars Go is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Arcade Fire are from Montreal and their first album Funeral is one of my favorite albums ever. They're a very atmospheric band and may take some time to get into - give Funeral multiple listens, should you seek it out. -ringding- |
The new album is great! I'm getting an 80's vibe out of a couple of the songs. Went ahead and preordered it.
|
Anyone else getting different levels on songs. Every version of Black Wave seems almost silent compared to the others. And Black Mirror seems really muddy. Don't want to listen to it like that.

I enjoyed it. If you are expecting Funeral 2, in terms of composition or greatness you will be dissappointed. Overall, it does avoid the sophmore slump. Feels like a grower.
|
I like what I've heard so far. Looking forward to hearing the whole CD when it comes out.

Amazon.com has some album artwork up:

Not sure at which place it's cheaper, though. |
I'm loving the album. Is (Antichrist Television Blues) a nod/reference to Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues? Has a similar droning thing going on and pessimistic view
