Police reunion rumors heating up!

It would be interesting if they came up with some new material in the same pop style they had previously, but I'm sure they'll just be replaying their greatest hits. I'll pass.

I saw Sting live and it was a very enjoyable experience. The best part was for the encore, he came on by himself with an acoustic guitar and played Message In A Bottle while the entire audience sang along with him. It was fantastic. I would very much love to see the Police reunited on tour.

StingUs.net posted news that the Police open the Grammy Awards show on Feb. 11th which would launch 80 live concert dates from the reunited trio. The site removed the article after receiving a request shortly after.

If true, I just hope that the Police at the Grammy Awards does not end up looking like a reunited Van Halen (w/ David Lee Roth) at the MTV Music Awards. I'd also try to see them early in the tour!!!

Awesome news. Sounds legit. I really want to see The Police. One of the few artists that I'll go to the trouble of getting tickets, babysitters restaurant reservations and maybe even a hotel room to go and see.
As far as Sting goes, yeah, he must have lost his mind with that lute shit, but some of his later solo stuff, even if not earth shattering in the way Roxanne or Message In A Bottle was, still was pretty good. I recently found my CD of Mercury falling while I was cataloging my stuff onto MP3. God, that's a great album. Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot is a simple joyous song. I Hung My Head tells such a great story that Johnny Cash recorded it. I'm So Happy That I Can't Stop Crying is a clever country take on the acceptance that comes after divorce. Not too many straight artists would write a song like Tomorrow We'll See, about a transvestite hooker in the first person. Seriously, those who think he lost his way should really revisit that album; it holds up really well.

Opening at the Grammy's would make sense as it usually opens with a "surprise" appearance. Prince opening the show in 2004 set the stage for his big tour that year. Bring on the tour dates!!!

This news is pretty amazing. Hell, I might even have to try to get tickets to see 'em and I hate dealing with big concert events and sorta loathe the idea of rebirthed dinosaur bands... But the Police, dayamn!

Yeah just saw the confirmation on billboard.com which said the grammy appearance is expected to kick off a year's worth of touring dates!

Between The Police, The Smashing Pumpkins and Genesis, me thinks I'm going to be a very broke woman this concert season. At least $100 - $150 a piece just to get into the building.
Can't wait.

I watched the "Everyone Stares" doc last night. Great stuff... I'm really curious to see the Grammy opening.

if "Don't stand so close to me '07" doesn't sound like a cow trying to cash in, I don't know what does then. Not in the least bit interesteds in seeing them live. However, I would be ecstatic on a brand new Police album of all new material. They have to have some stuff left over. A brand new Police record would have me really excited(especially after Syncroncity). They have got to have some great material after all these years.
