yourmusic.com Now 6.99!
Yesterday it was 5.99, today 6.99. Wasn't it 4.99 a year ago?

They're $19.99 at the mall, even the catalog titles. $6.99 with free shipping isn't the worst deal in the world.
|
Wow, I wish they would have informed me of this!
|
^^me too. I just cancelled.
|
I got an email about the increase at least a month ago; also when you went to the site, there was an alert about it. I've kept my membership for the time being, as even at $6.99, it's still cheaper to get a lot of discs through them than going the used route, especially for classical music. If they raise the price again though, that's it for me.

I also quit (for now). I just bought the rest of my list at the old price, and figure if there's more albums added down the line that I'd get, I'll rejoin if I get any special offers. But why not clean out your queue at a cheaper price?

I quit awhile back. Just not enough to keep me filling my queue.
|
I bought a gift sub for myself so I'll get it for 6 more months, I have enough in my queue for that.
|
I've used yourmusic.com for about 6 mos. now, and I'm wondering why I don't just open up a BMG subscription and knock out my needs in one swoop.
Even still, though, $6.99 is pretty damn cheap for a brand new CD. |

I've also noticed that CD prices have remained at $5.99 on my account (which I've had for about three months). When I was at work today, I visited the site on a computer I had never used to visit the site (i.e. no cookie) and saw that the price posted on the site is $6.99 for new enrollment. I haven't received any notification of a price increase on my account. Has there been a lag time during past price increases and their impact on existing accounts? I'm waiting for the new Byrds box set to become available at yourmusic and I'm hoping to beat the price increase. It's already available at BMG, so I'm wondering if they're holding out on me.
|
I did get a price increase e-mail and prior to January 1st, an "important information about your account" link at the top of each page, which would take you to a price increase information page. With past increases, the price would increase on the day it was scheduled to.
I placed an order for a CD not available before January 1st, and got a shipping notice yesterday at the $5.99 price. |
BMG works out cheaper and they have the same CDs.
|
I got an email about this and bought about 10 classical SACDs before the price hike. I'm canceling my account as well. I enjoyed it a bunch when it was $4.99 and even when it was $5.99, but $6.99 is just a bit much for a CD club. I would rather just wait and try the BMG club thing when I have enough CDs I want to order.
Just checked and mine are still going to be $5.99 for a couple more weeks so I will probably order the last 5 SACDs I'm missing before closing the account. |
Anyone know a phone number for these people? I'm having some issues (first a lost shipment from December 8, now they've sent the wrong CD) and they do not answer emails.
I'm regretting that I have 6 more months of them--when they mess up or something goes wrong it is really hard to fix due to the lack of responsiveness. |

I'm regretting that I have 6 more months of them--when they mess up or something goes wrong it is really hard to fix due to the lack of responsiveness. I've been trying to get an order of 3 cds from November from them. They finally sent it out again, only one is now on backorder. And I'm worried that another CD sent to me before Christmas isn't going to arrive either. These were the last orders and queue items from them, then I was quitting. Now I don't want to cut ties from them until I have everything in my hands and it's getting very annoying. I was hoping to be done with them before the first of the year and instead 4 CDs are in limbo. |
I got a gift subscription to them for Xmas, and signed up on Dec 24th. Mine is still showing $5.99 for all cds.
But, the first cd in my queue (placed there Dec 24th) still hasn't shipped. I sent them an email asking why, and (after waiting several days for them to get back to me) they said they are having a "technical problem". |

I just signed up today, and put about 6-7 CD's in my queue. I'll probably end up canceling as I found many artists either not carried at all or with very limited selection.
|
i was going to sign up, but now won't. Their selection is not very good, and the few that I did want are not worth $1 more now.
|
I cleaned out my queue before the new rate went into effect. I logged in to discover I still get $5.99/CD. I placed an order for some $5.99 two-disc sets, and they shipped a few days ago according to the site. If you emptied your queue prior to Jan. 1st, it might be worth logging in or reactivating your account if you canceled it.
|
I also cleaned out my queue last year when I got the notice of the price increase. It went from a list of 25-30 items down to 3-5. Most were just dropped as nonessential items, and the remaining 'must haves' were all ordered a few at a time.
Now the troubles I posted about (above) have all been resolved to my satisfaction and the price is still at $5.99. There's only one 'must have' item sitting in my queue with a few 'nice for the price' items that I could take or leave. I'm so ready to be done with this company, but 5.99 is too good to pass up and they always seem to add at least one new item a month that I've got to get. I feel like I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop, now. Once that price changes for me, I'm done and not looking back. |
I also bought a bunch to catch up my queue expecting the increase and it never came. I haven't canceled though. I have kept a few in there and if it stays $5.99 I will stay. They even added two new SACDs recently including a great Danny Elfman CD.
|
Mine shipped the other day at 6.99. Still a helluva deal if you're not impatient, but it does indeed suck that the prices seem to go up at least once a year.
|
I'm still at $5.99. Maybe they honor it for a year from signup or something.
|
Just got an email today saying that April 16th the prices for me are going up to 6.99 per disc. Immediately after reading it I added my remaining few queue items to my cart. As soon as I see a shipping notice I'm canceling.
|
I'm thinking I'm about at the point where I will do a round of 12 for 1 and get the heck outta there. THey aren't adding anything new, and with my lala wish list piling up I can't spend any extra at yourmusic. Again, though, good stuff here and there.
|
I agree with you Snowmaker, their selection isn't really that good and their better ones I already have anyway so I passed on using them.
|
Reconsidering here.
There's about 6-8 CDs on there that I want that, even at $6.99, are still cheaper than in stores. Should I sign up, or is there a better alternative? |
Snowmaker I'd try out the BMG route first to see if you can get in on there 12 for 1 deal...might work out. What do you see on there? I'm looking for suggestions after I round out my Radiohead collection.
|
I may try the BMG route. I can easily find 12 on there.
Is it as easy to cancel after the 12 as it sounds though? Also, what happens if you don't cancel? I can't find anything that relates to after the 12 as far as prices and such. All I see is that they offer you a CD every 3 weeks or so. |
What BMG doesn't tell you is that its a flat $2.79 shipping per CD.
So your 12 for 1 CDs could end up costing you $50+ Still a decent price per disk. |

can someone who is a member tell me if it's worth checking out or not? I'm debating joining for items that are grossly overpriced and I can never find on sale and want (Depeche Mode CD/DVD-A combos, Bjork's DualDiscs, Universal Deluxe Editions, etc....). Even with the price raise, $6.99 isn't bad at all and $13.98 for two-disc sets is a great value especially since they are usually $25 in stores.
How long do you have to be a member before you can cancel your membership? |
You can cancel at any time. I'm planning on grabbing what I want and then cancelling as soon as I can't find anything decent to put into my que. So far, I've put the Depeche Mode CD/DVD combos, some NIN 5.1DVD-A, and a few other titles into my que, so I should be there through the rest of the year.
|
too bad they don't have the two Depeche CD/DVD-A combos I most want (I own Violator, Some Great Reward and Playing The Alien), Black Celebration and Music For The Masses. But oh well, beggers can't be choosers, it's not like I'll find A Broken Frame or Songs Of Faith And Devotion in the deluxe editions for $6.99 at Best Buy anytime soon.
