Their big hit was Your Mama Don't Dance, but I heard there was a great song by them that most people would never guess was from them, because its that good.

Any idea what it might be?

I think Angry Eyes is a great song and better than the one you listed.

You're thinking of "Danny's Song":

When you said "hit single", this is the song I assumed you were talking about.

I thought he was looking for a deeper track that wasn't as widely recognized. Danny's Song is great too though.

I am. The song I'm looking for isn't an obvious one. An album track that rockers found awesome, until they found out it was by Loggins & Messina. They still liked the song, but were very surprised by the source.

Maybe it was their cover of Elvis' "My Baby Left Me" ?

I have to give up on this one. There's really not that much material to choose from and I would have bet money it was Angry Eyes. That song really rocks and many people recognize it when they hear it but couldn't tell you it was by Loggins and Messina.

Definately Angry Eyes. Fairly longer song. Played a lot on FM rock stations in the day.

I would agree that it's probably 'Angry Eyes' if rockers liked it. However, two of my all-time favorite L & M songs that I think are better than many of their hits are "Watching the River Run" (from "Full Sail") and "Keep Me in Mind" (from "Mother Lode"). The internet samples from online retailers give you a good idea of the melodies, harmonies, etc. The first song features Loggins on vocals and the latter features Messina in an introspective, haunting performance (the Japanese-sounding solos give an atmospheric touch). I believe a lot of people found L & M to be too "precious"-sounding (a charge they earned to some degree, especially with "House at Pooh Corner" played endlessly on radio) or too mannered (Messina), but they produced some good music if you can be selective & mix the faster stuff with the slower. Like a lot of 70's artists (Eagles, CSR, Cat Stevens, etc.), they had a tendency to be somewhat overproduced in the studio. Don't know if this is what you're looking for...hope it helps.

It would be nice if a good boxed set or double-disc anthology could be produced that gleaned their best (like many bands, they started out strong & fizzled in later albums). Years ago I bought an import vinyl from Holland that picked from their best (as opposed to just recycling hits).

''Peacemaker'' off their ''Native Sons'' album is another good song...

''Here we go,here we go
Here we go,here we go
Here we go,here we go
Here we go,here we go......''
