News of Jarvis Cocker's solo album was buried deep in the Pulp reissues thread and I would've never even heard of it if I hadn't had kept up with that one, so it was suggested (by BadlyDrawnBoy) that this album get its own thread.
I particularly like "Don't Let Him Waste Your Time" (a song he wrote for Nancy Sinatra), "From A To I", and "Baby's Coming Back To Me". "Black Magic" uses a "Crimson & Clover" sample to great effect. This is seriously in the running for album of the year for me.
Just wish it'd get a stateside release.
He's got a good interview on 11.01.06 edition of the Times Sounds Podcast. And he's released a series of "Jarvcasts", where he reads short stories (I've downloaded them all, but haven't given them a listen yet). Both are available on iTunes.
Sing a long with Jarvis:
Ah, hell. I can't embed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_M22STINYw

Any idea when the U.S. release date for this album is? While I was disappointed with the last Pulp album, "Different Class" and "This Is Hardcore" were brilliant enough to still make me anxiously await anything else he's involved with.

typical tour dates... skips the south east... and if he did come this way, it would only include chicago and maybe atlanta... sigh... and never got to see pulp live either!
