Sounds like fun--I'd love to be involved!
|
Totally down, if you need someone who's interested. I love the spirit of "give and receive" vs. a hosted/download alternative. My wife hangs out at a couple "art" related sites and they are always sharing/trading things. She gets something in the mail on a weekly basis from her online friends.
That being said, my musical taste runs the freaking gamut, might not be as current and hip but with over 2000 actual cds (I'm currently in the process of converting my rarer vinyl and cassettes over to the digital realm) so I'm bound to produce some interesting compilations. Sounds like fun for sure. |

And I love the response this has gotten so far. Exactly what I was hoping for. |
Sounds like a fun project and a great way to discover new music.
I'd be interested. |
I'd be interested in this, but I like the rar/zip option. Makes everything a lot more instantaneous and allows us to share multiple playlists with multiple people easily, along with keeping the cost down.
|
I am definitely in for this if there is still room, though widdling down the songs will be a definite chore...I believe it will be the most enjoyable chore i've ever had to do.
|
I am in.
I often make CDs for people I work with that contain the latest songs I bought or downloaded. Will try to tighten the reins a little and make it a bit more theme-related. |
oh and btw...i'd love to be involved. :) I already have some that I could probably throw in there.

I think this brings the count to 18 people who want to be involved; are we agreed that drawing the line at 20 is enough?

I'll play along in a non-mail capacity. Perhaps when someone has a CD ready, he can specify mail, Internet, or both? Details can then be handled over email.

Quick question; what would be the cheapest way to mail out 20 CDs?
|
Everyone that wants to participate can upload a zip or rar file to rapidshare.de and just distribute the link to anyone that wants to download that person's "cd". It's free and much less time consuming and you don't have to limit the number of people participating.
If you do it this way, remember to change the filenames to include a number at the begining of each track so the listener knows which order to play them in. |

• DVD Josh • I claim spot #19 NORML, I think all such exchanges should take place off-forum. das |
Is it too late for this, if not I'd like to play too.
|
:( Am I too late for this? wah. If not, I have some super secret hidden rock gems that I'd love to gather together. I'd be more up for online than mail if so.

sendspace.com allows you to send up to 300 megabytes for free. It uploads it and one can download the file link for up to 2 weeks. that would also work.
|
I'd like to take part also, but I guess I'm on the waiting list?

Eh, I'm almost done, I just have to move some tracks around some, since when you mix genere's, sometimes the pitch doesnt match between songs. And thanks to the 9 length of 2 songs (over 7 minutes), my CD only has 19 tracks, unless I decide to change some of the selections. I also wanted to make sure that I didn't have 100% singles or songs that everyone knows. While there are quite a few, there are a few album tracks or songs that aren't as well known as others. Actually to get all the songs that I wanted, I would need either 2 cd's or find a way to make files on itunes as actual mp3's, so I could make 1 long cd with about 24 songs. Or (I'm gonna need help on this one) is there a way to delete the 5 or 6 seconds worth of silence that some songs have at the end, or to enhance the volume of older tracks, so the pitch sounds right in between songs.

And, are you trying to make an MP3 CD or just lower the quality of the songs to make them fit onto 1 disk? To make a song an MP3, click on edit-->preferences-->advanced-->importing, then change the 'import using' to MP3 (it's probably on AAC right now). Click OK, then highlight the song(s) you want to convert to MP3, go to 'advanced' and click on 'convert selection to mp3' I'm not sure what you mean about the 'pitch,' though. Hope any of that helps. |
I plan on doing mine this weekend. It shall ROCK.

I think we need to make a decision on how we are going to do this. Bus: I think you should make a decision and we should stick with that. Then we can really decide who is going to participate. |
