Minor correction:Jojo didn't appear on "If you think you're lonely now". Yet, one of the rare covers that outdoes the original.

Aaliyah-"Hot like fire" (One of the sexiest songs I've ever heard)
En Vogue-"Runaway Love"
R. Kelly-"Dedicated"
SWV-"Weak"
Mary J. Blige-"Everything"
Intro-"Come Inside"
Surface-"The first time"
Faith Evans-"Soon as I get home"
Jon B. feat. Babyface-"Someone to love"
Devine-"Lately"
112-"Come see me"
Erykah Badu-"Next Lifetime"
Rude Boys-"Written all over your face"
Total-"Kissing you"
Total-"No one else"
Jodeci-"Stay"
702 feat. Subway-"This lil' game we play"
Silk-"Freak Me"
Xscape feat. Ol Skool-"Am I Dreaming?"
D'angelo-"Lady"
Sparkle-"What About"
C & C Music Factory-"Take a Toke (Robi-Rob remix)" (This was one of those cool-as-hell songs that no one never heard)

IMO, Blackstreet was the most accomplished and under-appreciated group of that era. Their dance tunes ("Booti Call","Girlfriend","No Diggity") were just as pleasing to me as their slo jams ("Before I let you go","Don't leave me")

But Shai's "Comforter" (Which you mentioned) was my most favorite R&B song of the decade.

Check out TQ, Transitions, Anthony Hamilton and the first Dave Hollister album (the last one seems like it was written while he was taking a crap - great first album and the rest just went downhill, each more than the previous).

Not really an R&B fan, but I dig D'Angelo's paltry two album output (specifically the songs "Devil's Pie", "Brown Sugar", and "Shit Damn Motherfucker").

C'mon, dude. Put out another album.

Good list Mondo Kane. I've forgot many of those you've mention. Remebering these just brings back great high school memories. IMO the 90's was my favorite decade for R&B. I like some of artist/songs these days, but to me it's not the same.

Anyone else have a good list?

BTW, I have a song that's been stuck in my head for many years now yet I can't remember the artist or name of the song.

It's like a really depressing song by a male African-American artist. All I can remember is he sing "I miss you" over & over again. If anyone can help me with this mystery song I'll be very greatful.

Could it be "I Miss You" by Aaron Hall?

Thanks for the help RTorres481, but it's not it. Although I do remember that song.
All I can remember is it being really sad & depressing. Like he's about to cry. lol

Forgot to mention that it's Timbaland's remix of "Hot like Fire" that I preferred.
And speaking of remixes, R. Kelly was known to have at least 3 versions of a song I liked. The radio versions of "Bump N Grind" (As heard on the video)and "Down Low" (With the electric guitar interlude) were my favorites.

I was just going to add "I Miss You" to this list. That's the first song that popped in my head when I saw this thread.

I'll have to skim through some discs to see what hasn't been listed here...

How about "Un Break My Heart" by Toni Braxton?

Oh, and I think "If It Isn't Love" by New Edition is 80's. Great song though.
