Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

It looks like Genesis are reuniting — without Peter Gabriel. The Sun reports that Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford will perform in multiple arenas across the UK in November and December, with tickets for the tour going on sale later this month.

Genesis teased the news yesterday by posting a photo on their Instagram page with the caption “And then there were three.” (A commenter on their Instagram thinks that the tour will kick off 11/16 in Dublin.) The band is expected to make an official announcement tomorrow morning on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.

Genesis last performed together in 2007, but rumors of a reunion have been swirling since Collins, Banks, and Rutherford were spotted at a Knicks game together earlier this year. Collins reunited with Rutherford on tour last year, and he’s said that he’d be open to a reunion with his son Nicholas on drums.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

I saw, and loved, the 2007 tour.

This one feels weird... Unless they mean Phil's son, AND Chester Thompson, will be on drums.

Chester and Darryl Stuermer have to be a part of any Genesis tour.

Regardless, it won't be the same without Phil on drums.

If Gabriel had opted to join in the tour, this could've been the biggest news ever for fans of Genesis.

Genesis without Gabriel is like Pink Floyd without Waters.

Agreed! They're both awesome in either lineup.

Having said that, I won't be going to see this, but if Gabriel was part of it, I would absolutely see it.

Really, though, if Peter Gabriel was part of this, what would Phil be doing? Singing the odd post-Gabriel song?

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

Today, Genesis confirm their highly anticipated return to North America for the first time in 14 years. The Last Domino? Tour 2021 will have Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford playing major cities across the U.S. and Canada this November and December. The group will be joined by Nic Collins on drums, and the band’s long-time lead guitar and bass player Daryl Stuermer.

Kicking off in Chicago on November 15, Genesis’ The Last Domino? North American Tour 2021 will continue on to Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, NYC, Columbus, Belmont Park and Pittsburgh before wrapping in Boston on December 15.

Presale tickets for all shows will be available first through Ticketmaster Verified Fan on May 5, followed by the general public on-sale on May 7. To register for presale tickets and for more information on the tour, tickets and VIP packages, please visit www.genesis-music.com

Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program aims to create a safe and reliable ticket-buying experience to ensure that tickets get into the hands of real fans first. Fans must register for access between now and Sunday, May 2 at 11:59 pm ET. If verified and selected, fans can secure their tickets beginning Wednesday, May 5, at 10 am local time. Beginning May 7, tickets will be available through a public on-sale.

Well I hope this is only the first leg of the tour. Some folks live west of the Mississippi.
I wonder if Phil is healthy enough to sing while standing now. Watching him sing sitting down isn't ideal. Would love to see them live though.

I was worried that his "not dead yet" tour title might bite him in the arse..

I'd love to go to the Charlotte show, but I bet it sells out quickly, since it's the South's only stop. Any guesses what tickets will go for?

I'm scared to guess. The show I saw in 2007 was around $450CDN for me and my wife. We had great seats, but that was 13 years ago.

As previously stated, I've decided to pass on this one. Phil has always been so hyped up during their performances, I can only imagine coming away saddened.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

Yeah, his solo shows recently have been expensive and also quite a bummer. Still love seeing him, but it's not the same.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

I got a front row upper-level ticket on Phil's solo tour and it was $65. Not too bad. But I didn't want to spend a lot because I knew he was sitting the whole night. And so did I because of being in the front row.

I think when this went onsale in the UK the cheapest was like 60 GBP... so I'd expect the cheapest to around $75 for this.

Shit, my lower-section of the upper level seats at the MGM Garden Arena were like $300 each. We always pay a major concert premium in Vegas

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

My wife really wants to go, so does her sister. And my best friend and his wife want to go. So I'll try for 6 tix on Friday....but I think I'm maxing out at around $150 a ticket. That would be the most I've ever spent for a concert ticket......but a reformed Genesis is one of my 4 bucket list shows.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

You sure they weren't off secondary market? That sounds way overpriced. Or maybe they were a section closer to the stage so more money.

They weren't floor seats, but maybe they were still lower level seats on second thought.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

Ah, Ticketmaster and their "dynamic" ticket pricing. Demand for Chicago is obviously high. I got my presale code and took a look. Cheapest tickets are $190 plus fees for something way up in the clouds at the United Center. I would think that's probably double what the face value of tickets are. Fuck Ticketmaster.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

I've been reading the comments on the Genesis Facebook page, and their Subreddit. Looks like tickets are really high so far for the presale. $200+ for rafters....going to $1000 on the floor.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

Almost bought tickets for the wife this morning for the show at the Capital One Center in DC. Lowest price tickets were $75 for the upper rafters at the back of the complex. If you want a chance of actually seeing the band short a pair of binoculars or watching the whole show on the giant screen, the price shoots up to $150. Though the wife loves Phil and the band, she said to forget it.

Just as well for me. While I really enjoyed Phil's Serious solo tour in 1990, everything after that has been a let down. Esp. the We Can't Dance show at RFK in 1992, which may be the second worst concert I've seen.

Yep. Tried to get tickets yesterday. I’m not paying these prices.

Re: Genesis reunion / tour discussion & news

Glad I saw him (with Genesis) when I did in '74 for $10, there's no way I'd pay as much as they're asking for tickets now to see ANYBODY in concert.

Yikes, just checked for Columbus. Halfway back, halfway up is $328 before the fees. Looks like the cheapest is $148 before fees. Nope for me.
