RAEKWON [Wu-Tang Clan] signs with Aftermath

Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon has officially signed with Aftermath Entertainment and will release the album Only Built for Cuban Linx II on the record label.

The announcement ends months of speculation as to whether or not the album would be released on the powerhouse label, which is also home to Eminem, Eve, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, and G-Unit.

A statement on Wu-Tang's official website read.

"Rae isn't taking this album lightly and it will be released on Aftermath Records, not on the Wu Music Group as originally scheduled. It will be an instant classic!"

Last month we reported, that Raekwon the Chef signed with Dr. Dre's Aftermath. Now we can give you some more information on Rae's upcoming album, which is scheduled to release next year. Doc Dre will produce most of the beats on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Part 2. Besides Dre and RZA, the album will feature production from J Dilla, as well as Scram Jones and DJ Scratch.

He plans to release the long-delayed sequel to his debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, in summer 2008 under Aftermath. It will be executive produced by Busta Rhymes and the RZA, with RZA handling most of the production including the first single as well as tracks from Dr. Dre, among others.

Built 4 Cuban Linx II," meanwhile, will be 14 or 15 tracks of "raw hip-hop," with production he says is "a little deeper." Collaborators on the album include Dr. Dre, RZA and the late J. Dilla, the latter on what Raekwon calls "a brother and sister track" to "Triumph" from 1997's "Wu-Tang Forever." He may also be looking for a new label home for the album, as Raekwon says he and Interscope "didn't come to a complete understanding about the project."
