Just saw Alice in Chains...
...and they were surprisingly good. The new lead singer more than holds his own, and they managed to sell out the venue (the Joint in Las Vegas). The downsides...the mix wasn't the greatest. Also, we were right by the soundboard and saw that the encore was supposed to be "Heaven Beside You," "Rooster" and "Would". However, the band refused to come out for an encore...bewildering even the event staff who let the crowd cheer for about 10 minutes before turning the house lights on. (Apparently, Jerry Cantrell was unhappy with his sound throughout the night and told the crew he wouldn't do an encore because of it) A bit weak that the band exited without playing arguably their 3 biggest songs, but still a pretty fun show. Lots of video tributes to Layne Staley and an acoustic set that lasted about 1/2 hour.
