Clay Akin's new CD-Whats the big F***ing deal?

Okay at work today, we got in the new Clay Akin- I received ten copies in my shipment. The store opened at 7 and by noon they were all gone. I ask myself what makes his music so fucking special, and is the cd really that good?

He just has a lot of devoted, die hard fans.

Scary, but true.

movieking 09-20-06 04:51 AM

He's like a God. Check out Penn & Teller's Bullshit for proof.

He's got the housewives on lock. I remember he was on Oprah a while ago, and all these middle aged women were acting like teenagers at the thought of hearing him sing.

He isn't my cup of tea, but at least he does have some talent.

GoVegan 09-20-06 06:25 AM

Ah saw him on the tee-vee.

he's better than Nickleback

I picked up the CD for my mom at Wal-Mart. I had it buried under my groceries, like when you're buying something like genital warts cream and you're hoping it flies under the radar when you go through checkout. :)

To answer the question, I think it appeals to the same niche as Barry Manilow in the 70s, or Kenny G in the 90s. Mild, unassuming safe music. This one in particular is almost all covers of big ballad hits from the past 30 years, so it has that familarity factor as well.

I picked it up yesterday.

Suzie McNeil is on the CD

Sure, that's why you picked it up.

Sure. ;)

Well the CD is for my gf, but I'll admit... Aiken is one hell of a singer .

There's just no denying that.

onebyone 09-20-06 12:43 PM

So, the "I'm playing Clay Aiken because of Suzie McNeil" excuse won't fly huh? Damn, I was banking on that one. **Scratches it off the list** I can't say it is for my girlfriend either, so I am at a loss. I'm going to have to get creative on this one. I certainly am not listening to it because I just love his voice past the point of sense. Nope. No way.

Is Clay changing his image? That's a pretty aggressive title for a pop CD.

das

Trying to court the emo crowd, I imagine.

I like his music and I bought the first album. I'll get this one too, eventually.

Could be the work of Clive Davis and RCA.

His new look was definitely a shocker during the last Idol finale.

Took a while for me to get use to.

Why would you need to?

The difference is, the two guys above have more talent in one of their thumbnails than Clay Aiken will ever have on his best day.

I am a fan of Manilow but don't see the Aiken appeal. Guess it's cause I am not a fat housewife or gay.

"Attention, can I get a price check on a Clay Akin CD? Price check on a Clay Akin CD."

I'm neither.... and I've sat second row at one of his concerts. -rolleyes-

You got used to it!? Tell me how, please. The new image burned a hole in my retina. He went from looking like Ed Grimley and K.D. Lang's love child, to Ed Grimley and Ellen's love child.

Uhh..i'm gay and I don't see the interest, Mr Alabama.

Manilow maybe, but I think I'd rather listen to Kevin Federline interpret Beatles classics than listen to a Kenny G cd. :)
