Whats the best way to support a band nowadays?
Is it better to buy their album one song at a time on itunes?
I heard this way the band gets more cash OR Is it better to buy their CD in a music store so that the corporate machine gets their cut and therefore promotes the band better? |
uhhh...none of the above. go see them live.

go to their concerts and send checks to the individual band members. they get pennies for album sales.
paypal them some cash
disease-free groupies
Buy a bootleg t-shirt: "Knickleback Rocks!"
Mail them $12. :D
Put them in your "Top Eight" at MySpace.
pretend they don't suck
If it's a smaller band, buy a CD/shirt when they come to town. The money goes directly into their pockets and will help them get to the next city.

But if you REALLY want to go with the "buying something" route...i would say to buy the CD considering that the quality is better than compressed bullshit that Itunes sells you. It may not be the "monetary" support you're looking for but I think an artist would appreciate it a bit more.

I was thinking there was some kind of 'ratings' that helps a band like 'number of albums sold' or something. So, more than just cash, if Im going to be voting with my $ its best spend on a CD?
(of course im talking about indie non-blockbuster bands.) |
