Musicians! Post pics of your gear!

I still play here and there, but as I hit 35, my "gigging" days are drawing to a close. And after almost 20 years of playing guitar, I can finally say that I'm done with buying gear - not because I'm gonna stop playing, but because I'm perfectly happy and content with what I have - a claim very few musicians will make. I've had a lot more stuff over the years that I've since sold (I really tried to like Fenders, I really did...) Anyways, here's the current line-up, along with some info:

Gibson Les Paul Standard, circa 1989
This was my high school graduation present
and the guitar I've owned the longest.
It's my go-to guitar, and the one I use most.

1970, Gibson 340-GS hollow-body
This was my lucky pawn-shop find.
I bought it in Springfield, MO in 1998 for $500.
These are hard to find, as not many were made and
this one's freaking cherry, especially considering it's age.
It has an incredible range of sound, the best feedback ever
and just feels good. This one's probably my favorite guitar.

2003, Gibson SG special edition
This was the last guitar I bought.
An impulse-buy that turned out well.
I like that it feels, plays and sounds very
different than my other guitars and
it's less than half the wieght of my Les Paul.
I also love it's gain - and how it looks evil.

1994, Taylor 410-CE acoustic
This was an amazing gift from my girlfriend at the time.
I'd drag her to the music shop and play around with it,
and she ended up getting it for my birthday.
This is, bar-none, the best acoustic guitar I've ever played,
and that includes lots of Martins and other Taylors.

My effects board -
It's pretty self-explanitory - the white one is the delay.
Yeah, I like Boss pedals - they're the most reliable.
The Wah-pedal is the newest one - I went digital-wah
after my 3th Dunlop Cry-Baby broke for no reason.

Marshal JCM 800 tube combo w/ 2x12" speakers
I've had all sorts of amps, heads and cabinets over the years.
Nothing beats this baby - it's plenty loud for most shows,
and at bigger venues, I can always mic it through the board.
It's clean is servicable, but it's lead/gain is out of this world.
I can easily reproduce all my favorite tones with this.

Fender hot-rod deville tube 4x10" speakers
This is my back-up amp which I never use.
I'm looking to sell it. It's too touchy, and thin sounding
for what I need - but it does have an amazing clean channel.
Oh, and the pod on top of it is cool for fooling around with sounds,
for some recording, and when I'm in a hurry at a show,
I just plug it straight into the main board. I haven't used it much recently.

Cool stuff slop! I'm a huge Gibson fan. I love Les Paul's, SG's, Firebirds(reverse), and Explorers. As far as buying stuff, the last major investment I made was a Gibson EDS-1275, the doubleneck SG Jimmy Page used in the 70's . I can't play for shit but I LOVE buying guitars. I've got my eye on some stuff as I type this and one day my ultimate purchase will be a Les Paul Supreme.

I hear ya...

I'll take some more detailed pictures of my axes over the weekend, here's a couple of "broad views" of my at home practice gear... Unlike you, unfortunately, I still have a few things on the wishlist...

I run a Peavey Classic 50 tube + a Marshall mini-stack in stereo through a Boss A/B switcher. That Hughes & Kettner edition blue gets used for a little of this and that, think I had a mic thorugh an analog delay running to it when I snapped that shot. On the floor... A Korg tuner, a Dunlop 95 Q Crybaby Wah, a Boss ME-50 multi-effects processor and a Boss latching footswitch.

My main axe is an American Custom Stratocaster... The factory pickups were too thin sounding and lacked that "slap, in your face!" edge so I replaced them with Seymour Duncan Rails. My other electric is an Ibanez SZ, pretty much factory stock but it came with Duncans.

On the acoustic side of things... I use an Alvarez-Yairi DY series, need to snap some close-up shots of that one, the woods used are beautiful. I also have an old Gibson, forget the model number, that's been around the world and back judging from the wear on it. Plays sweet though! That's a Fostex 8-Track with internal HD on the table.

Good thread, looking forward to seeing what the other peeps are playing!

Oh, and nice Gibson collection!

How's the Hughes & Kettner? I would love to get a HK stack. Alex Lifeson of RUSH uses them.

I bought a triple neck guitar...I saw it cheap so I had to buy it. It has, from the top, a 12 string (so I can ruin Beatles songs) a 7 string (so I can ruin metal songs) and a 6 string (so I can ruin everything else). Also, my bass is a very GOOOOD knock off of Paul McCartney's Hofner Bass. Bass is actually "my" instrument. I would pick that over guitar any day. I remember I once studied Paul McCartney bass for literally 2 months in high school..yes I was a loser!!!

Just wanted to show to scale how big that guitar is!! (I'm 6'1" 210lbs)

My brother bought this Telecaster. He has moved on to bigger and better guitars (even though this kicks ass) It's a Strat neck and Tele body. I love it.

A Gibson acoustic...I don't know too much about it!! It was expensive though (I have a lot of money to throw around)!!

I'll post pics when I get my camera back from my deadbeat brother. I think that I've tried every major brand of guitar in my 25 years of playing. I've had at one time or another, Gibson, Fender, Carvin, Ibanez, Kramer, Rickenbacker, Steinberg and Guild for electric and Martin, Gibson, Washburn and Ovation for acoustic. Thank God for the Bargain News! I currently have a 70's Telecaster, a 70's Les Paul flametop, a Rick 12 string and an Ovation acoustic. My main guitar though is a Paul Reed Smith and I've got an older Mesa Boogie tube amp.

paulringodaman and flair,
I have been playing bass guitar for few months. I am not very good at it, but enjoy playing it. Anyway, I would like to buy an combo amp for my warwick rockbass. But, I know nothing about amps. I am just going to play at home or friend's house, so I don't need anything too powerful. I have about 250 to spend.....any suggestions? I went to a guitar center and the sales rep told me I should buy either fender rumble 60 or crate BX50. Are those any good? How about warwick blue cab 60? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Eh, for a solid state 30W practice amp... It has a good clean and so-so on the dirt. Nothing special but it gets the job done. Nothing like a nice tube stack though.

Love the pics gang! And that triple neck monster is a trip...

PaulRingoDaman-

What make is your Hofner knockoff? I have a cheapo Ray Turser one that doesn't play too bad that I use with a Vox practice amp.

Congrats on the Strat. I have always preferred the Maple fingerboard to the Rosewood on the Strat.

Alright, I know what I said, and I meant it, but once in a while a deal comes along that you just can't pass up. Through a business connection of mine, I was able to get this guitar custom made for me at cost (which is less than a quarter of it's retail price, if it was still being made, that is...)
It's a Taylor dreadnought, made entirely of Koa wood - front, back and sides.

And it's just about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen:

This has been my setup forever. (Bought the bass in 1996, got the amp in 2002).

It's a 1978 4001.

Every now and then I think about buying a second bass just to have the option of a different sound (and since the 4001 is worth nearly twice what I paid for it now) but haven't yet.

I have tons of effect pedals and stuff (around 30), but the only ones I really use for bass are my Fender Blender, Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi, and EHX Pulsar.

Holy sweet mother ...

Gorgeous. The pearl trim is just a shade on the flashy side for my taste, but the Koa and the marks on your fretboard are stunning.

I'm not a fan of pearl-trim myself, but it's not too obvious on the guitar in person, and actually compliments the Koa-grain nicely - the flash in my camera made the pearl-trim look a lot brighter than it really is.

And Poink, yeah, if I played bass with any sort of regularity, that's pretty much the same set-up I'd go with myself.
