im currently using a Numark PT-01 - portable turntable. It plays 33s, 45s, and 78s.

its super light weight, the damn thing is about the size of a 12" record.

it uses 6 DD batteries or just an AC 12v adapter.

the sound is also pretty good, you can hook it up to some computer speakers throught the headphone jack.

I recently upgraded to the VPI Aries 3 with the JMW-10.5i tonearm. Awesome sound, but it damn well better be for the money that I paid.

I have one of those "retro style" combination record player/CD/cassette player/radio deals. Kinda cheesy, but I'm not too concerned about turntable quality so I like it. I think this is the one I have (or at least one very similar to this):

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....&ref=06&loc=01

The Numark one looks cool, but their site is terrible in terms of how they handle links to individual products. Your link points to a generic product page instead of the PT-01. I had to navigate to it through the Products link, and I couldn't figure out any way to directly link to the PT-01.

nice! I have always wanted to get into vinyl, but haven't yet due to the high cost of entry for a good table. I may in a few years though.

I was very close to getting one then imagined spending $100/week on vinyl and stepped back from the abyss.

Not your fault - their site apparently just isn't very link-friendly.

Nice topic btw - it's cool to see that there's still interest in vinyl and turntables these days.

I actually have one, I think the brand is Crosley? It is part of one of those "retro" stereo units that I bought based on looks alone... I have only used the CD player in it however.

Overall I'm very happy with this setup. The room is a bit small for the speakers but I wanted something I will have for a long time and I'll eventually get a bigger space. I do spend way too much on LPs though.

I have some vinyl, but I need a new turntable. Are any of the ones that are found at Circuit City or Best Buy worth purchasing?

Nice.

fender, how do you like your Bellari? I've been thinking about getting a separate phono stage.

My setup:

Rega Planar 2 (planning to do the motor upgrade at some point)
Shure V15 cart
McIntosh C20 pre-amp/phono stage
Motu 2408mkII sound card

for doing my needle drops.

I really like it. I keep it set at about 50% and it really warms up the sound without diminishing the highs. For the cost I'm very happy with it and eventually I do plan on getting a few other tubes.

I use an Aiwa turntable that came with an Aiwa bookshelf system I bought about five years ago.

I have the turntable hooked up with a different system, though. (It was a seperate component from the rest of the bookshelf system.)

I currently owe a Rega Planar 3 w/Rega arm. Sadly, I don't have it hooked up right now. Considering putting it in my media room....

Looks pretty much like an unbranded Rega. You'll be happy.

I have two Technics 1200's. Haven't touched them in a couple of years, though (they're in storage up in Ohio). Can't wait until I am in a more permanent place and I finally have my "media room".

Just had my first vinyl delivered to me in the mail the other day, now it is just a matter of money before i get a turntable to play it on. I will probably pick up more records even though I still do not own a table.
