What are some good comedy shows?

I have a 6 hour drive coming up in a week and a day and I wanted to get some comedy show CDs to take with me. I love Carlos Mencia and Margaret Cho, and to a lesser degree George Lopez. I love Hispanic and Jewish comedy, and some redneck comedy. Suggestions?

I'm personally a big fan of David Cross, especially Shut Up, You Fucking Baby!

Also, it's a little dated but Robin Williams' Night at the Met (from the 80's) is pretty fuckin funny.

Dane Cook should be arrested in charges of committing crimes against comedy.

I like:

Mitch Hedberg
Patton Oswalt
Brian Regan

But seeing how you love Jewish, Redneck, and Hispanic comedy, my tastes are very different from yours.

Try Bob Newhart, Monty Python or Guido Hatzis :-)

Wayne and Shuster are also classic.

Yeah, and that mood is "mentally impaired".

I have a soft spot for Dennis Leary: No Cure for Cancer

His bits about NyQuil and Dead Rock Stars crack me up just thinking about them.

On Nyquil:

...it says on the bottle "may cause drowsiness". Yeah, right. It should say "don't make any fuckin' plans".

Agree about Carlin (who Leary pretty much apes).

I laughed out loud, so I guess Dennis Leary it is for #3

No comedy collection is complete without some Bill Hicks.

Heh heh. This post immediately following her decision to get Denis Leary!

Just fyi, GD, David Cross is f'in funny but he does have a liberal political ax to grind. Especially on Shut Up, You Fucking Baby! His track titles are hilarious because they never have anything to do with the content of the track itself.

For example, the track "Playing Pool with My Wife" is really about 9/11 and how he saw a sanitation worker trying to pick up a chick from the driver's seat of a garbage truck, amongst a lot of other stuff.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone else hesitate paying full price for a comedy album? For me, the replay value is much lower than a music album, and I think that they should be priced accordingly. Maybe in the neighborhood of $7-$9, retail. I'd buy a lot more of them that way.

Anywho, I like Mitch Hedberg, Brian Posehn, and Jim Gaffigan a lot. Older Carlin and Cosby are both good, too.

cheers,

Oh crap! I almost forgot Eddie Izzard! Try out Glorious or Dress to Kill!

His humor is irreverent and weird. And he's got a nice accent.

If you're gonna give David Cross a shot, I'd second Mitch Hedberg (RIP).
