Best one-hit wonder song in rap or hip-hop?
This is actually pretty tricky if you think about it because there's not that many rap/hip-hop "one hit wonders" --- usually rappers work in relative obscurity for a long time or have at least a string of successes after their big hit. Taking the two most obvious cues, "Ice Ice Baby" was followed by "Play that Funky Music" which went to #4 and Hammer had a couple of other songs too ("Pray" and "2 Legit 2 Quit").
Well, he's not my vote. Neither does it go to Wreckx n Effect, or Nice & Smooth, or 3rd Bass. Or Paperboy, for that matter.
My vote goes to Skee-Lo for "I Wish"...
What about you?

Speaking as a non-hiphop fan, these are the songs I remember, so they obviously got greater airplay and exposure and I guess could be considered one-hits:
Just a Friend, Biz Markie? I know he has a larger library, but I'm not sure as to the reach of his fame.
Informer - Snow
If I Only Had a Brain - MC 900 Ft Jesus

Actually, Young MC had a pretty big hit with "Principal's Office."
... and, Biz Markie's song "Vapors" is generally considered a hip-hop classic.
I'd say that the votes for Skee-Lo for "I Wish" and Snow for "Informer" are good choices.
I'll also add:
"Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark.
Granted, he had a few other somewhat popular songs, but when you think about his music career now that's the only song that comes to mind.

They had a few other minor hits, but this was pretty big. Sirius plays the hell out of it.

This one, "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)", and their follow up "Blowout Comb" are both great cds.

I'm not sure if it counts as hip-hop, but Dee-Lite's "Groove is in the Heart" may be the most awesomest song ever.
How about Candyman's "Knockin' Boots?"
(Can you tell I haven't listened to anything resembling rap or hip hop in 15 years?)
