I need music (preferably christian) advise for wedding

Hello everyone!
I am engaged to be married on Sept. 3rd. My fiancee and I are having a difficult time finding christian wedding music (that isn't too dated). Does anyone have any suggestions?

So by "not too dated", do you mean contemporary Christian? One that I've liked and that seems wedding-related is Steven Curtis Chapman's "I Will Be Here", that he wrote for his wife. I'll see if I can find a link...

Ah, here it is, try here, you can listen to it and then buy just the song if you want.

Other than that, can you give me some parameters? Ie, instrumental or lyrics? Male or female singer? Will you have someone singing it there, or playing it, or will you play the original recording (I've seen both at weddings)? I've been to a LOT of weddings, and heard the gamut, but need more to narrow them down. Hope that helps.

Ah, good point, music forum might be a better place for this.

Either that, or go into a large Christian bookstore, go to the music selection, and ask around. They will know what's out there, and you can listen to the CD's in store.

Not surprisingly, wedding music has been asked for before.

Also not surprisingly, not all of the answers have been entirely serious.

Without delving too deeply into what constitutes "Christian Music", here are some of the tips from earlier threads:

Fernando Ortega "Don't Let Me Come Home a Stranger "

You might be able to download it to hear it. It's a fairly short instrumental song that is beautiful. It was a very touching moment during our reception and this song helped make it so.

Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling In Love
Shania Twain - From This Moment (International Remix)
Shania Twain - You've Got a Way
Steve Tyrell - The Way You Look Tonight

And a little bit of classical music from the ceremony:
Bach - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Handel - Hornpipe From Water Music
Pachelbel - Canon in D
Richard Clayderman - Wind Beneath My Wings (instrumental version)

It was "My Little Girl" Steve Kinvan sings it, but Gloria something wrote it. You can hear the whole song at
www.imadj.com just click on my wedding, song suggestions, parent dances. I think it's the first one.

Anyway for the rest of the songs we let the parents choose a love song, and we chose one (Frank Valli "Cant take my eyes off of you).
Then had the each member of the wedding pary choose a love song.
We then made a nice cover, and had the track listing with the person that chose the song.

Some were:
The Beatles "all you need is love"
Etta James "At Last"
Selena ?
Bryan Adams "everything I do"
Alan Jackson
Neil Diamond "Hello Again"
Elvis "Blue Hawaii" (her parent's pick, and we also went there for our honeymoon).

I'll look up the whole track listing later if you want when I get home.

Which islands are you going to?
By far our highlight of the trip was doing the bike ride down the volcano on Maui on the sunrise tour.

Your choice really depends on the type of wedding you are having and what you want to say to each other. We had a rather large traditional wedding so an old standard seemed really appropriate for us.

Weddings! Ours was two years ago and though I swore I would never go through that kind of stress again now I wish I could do it all over again! Well, at least the reception part!

Baby,
Dream Your Dream.
Close your eyes and try it.
Dream of furniture;
Dream that I can buy it.
That fancy bed you prayed for,
Not only bought but paid for.
Dream we sign the lease,
Leave a small deposit;
Three and one-half rooms
With a walking closet.
We'll ask the local Jet-set
To dine on our dinette-set
Right across the street,
There's a friendly bank.
You make a friendly loan,
And the bank says: "Thank you."
Ev'ry Saturday,
We'll spend all our money.
Join the P.T.A.;
They will love you, honey.
Life will be frozen peaches and cream.
Baby, dream Your Dream.

As you can see, some of the answers related to first dances.

Besides Stryper, Amy Grant started out as a Christian musician.

If you are looking for something more contemporary, and Christian, check out Veggie Tales:
