I Tunes Newbie - Help Needed
My daughter got an ipod for her birthday and a gc to download songs.
I'm in the music store. I opened an account and am ready to buy songs for her. Once I buy a song where does it go ? What format is it saved as, MP3 ? Can I copy that song to any folder on my pc ? Thanks. |
The best bet is to read the documentation. Of course, I doubt you want to do that since you posted this. There are also books that are beginners guides, but I also doubt you want to go that route. I'll refer you to:
http://ptech.wsj.com/archive/solution-20041215.html That may be helpful. I can tell you these things: 1) You *can* find your music files and put them wherever you want, but I would advise that you just let iTunes do its thing where that is concerned since you're just starting out. It does a good job. The files will go under the "My Music" folder in your "My Documents" folder in a folder created for iTunes. Each artist gets a subfolder, and each album gets a subfolder under that. I'm assuming Windows XP or similar is your OS, btw. 2) Files you buy from the Music Store are in protected AAC format. I do believe iPods can play MP3, AAC, and Protected AAC files. Good luck with it... :) |
songs from itunes are in the M4P format

Thanks.
Can't you burn cd's using these files ? |
yes, itunes lets you burn CDs

I uploaded several songs to her ipod all at once.
How do you just upload one song at a time without having to upload every song in her library without wiping out the songs already uploaded to her ipod ? |

Because this is more about hardware/software than it is about music/musicians, it belongs in the Tech Talk forum. It is best that I don't move it there because that forum already has plenty of itunes/ipod help threads:<ul><li><a href="http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=392750" target="_blank">Ipod owners.
