Beatles Cover Songs
So I have been wanting to put together a beatles covers mix cd. I need some songs.
Some I have are:
Eddie Vedder - You've got to hide your love away
Joe Cocker - With a little help..
Tesla - We can work it out
Aerosmith - Come together
jackyl - I am the walrus (fun tune)
Billy Joel - Hard days night
Sheryl Crow - Mother Nature's Son
I am looking to find studio recordings, I know everyone and their mother do their songs live but the quality is usually sub-par. Bring on the suggestions. And obviously from the examples above I am looking for rock bands.
On a similar matter, I remember reading Tesla recorded a song for the Led Zeppelin: Encomium tribute cd. It got cut from the release, anyone know anything about it or where I might be able to track down a copy?

G. Love did a pretty cool, laid back cover of "Help!" Good luck finding it - it's on one of his CDs that's only available on his website and tour (namely, In the King's Court). I could e-mail it to you, once I get a little free time.

Koo Koo Ka Joob!
Jim Carrey [surprise] does an excellent excellent cover of "I Am the Walrus" - check it OUT!!!!
Also I have an MP3 of Sheila Chandra doing "Tomorrow Never Knows" that is a very good ethereal take of the song.

Siouxsie and the Banshees - "Dear Prudence"
Otis Redding - "Day Tripper"
Billy Bragg - "She's Leaving Home"
half the population of the planet - "Yesterday" (seriously, it's like the most covered song in history, or close to it)
Oh, and Raffi (or however you spell his name) did a cover of "Octopus' Garden"
ETA: How could I forget Elton John's cover of "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds"? It was a hit single, and Lennon actually sang on it...

Fiona Apple - "Across the Universe" on the Pleasantville soundtrack
Phil Collins did "Tomorrow Never Knows" on his Face Value album
and I really like Holly Cole's version of "I've Just Seen a Face" on her Dark Dear Heart album

The I Am Sam soundtrack (the one with Edde Vedder on it) is all covers.
Pearl Jam also covered I Got a Feeling; it was never released, but it is a studio recording.

William Shattner's Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds(just kidding, skip it)
Mutato Muzika Orchestra's instrumental Hey Jude from the Royal Tennebaums.

the only cover I've heard that is BETTER Than the original is PFR and Phil Keggey's WE CAN WORK IT OUT.
It was on that America's salute to the Beatles Disc out 6 years ago or so.

great cover. if you want another very Beatlesesque song (not exactly a cover), listen to Phil Keaggy's song "Love Divine." It's a great song remaniscent of the Beatles "All My Loving"

German metallers Helloween did a cover of "All My Loving" on their Metal Jukebox album.
And there's always Motley Crue's "Helter Skelter."

Beatallica is pretty good : http://www.sensoryresearch.com/~star...eatallica.html
Not purely Beatles cover songs, but Beatles music played in a Metallica style w/new lyrics and everything.

PM Dawn did a great cover of Norwegian Wood. It's on their... 2nd CD I think (they only have 2). It isn't a faithful accurate cover, it's one where they take the song and make it their own. Really good though.
Another off-the-wall one is Robin Williams (yes, the comic) and Bobby McFarrin (Don't Worry, Be Happy) doing Come Together.

I had forgotten about some of these. All good suggestions.
1. Yes, Yesterday IS the most covered song ever. Boyz II Men did a good one of this.
2. It was on Bob and Tom, some group did a study and decared William Shatner's "lucy" the worst Beatles cover ever. They played some of it. Horrendous.
Fogot about PM Dawn, that was a good one. As was STP.
I have the I am Sam strk. It is about 50-50 for quality. And a snoozefest if you listen straight though. Every one is slowed down.
I was wondering about the Elton John as well. Keep em coming.
