A good Mos Def album

Getting into Mos Def at the mo due to me watching The Chappelle Show alot. Whats a good album to start with?

he only has two. but I would first go with the Black Star album with Talib Kweli and then Black on Both Sides and if you are really into it, then pick up the last one but the title escapes me.

His last one is ok, but black on both sides and the black star album is pretty inspired. And if you're thirstin for more, try to find that 4cd set of singles, remixes, b sides.... It's got some good stuff in there.

There seems to be alot Rawkus records presents: Best of a decade, gone some stuff with Q-Tip as well so I well give that a go too.

In my opinion, not only is Black on Both Sides by far Mos Def's best album, but it is one of the best rap albums of all-time.

I totally agree with you on that.

^ If you're trying to track down the 4-disc set, it's called 'We Are Hip-Hop, You, Me, and Everybody.'

Also, there's a disc called 'The Dangerous Mixtape' which was sent with 'The New Danger' if you bought it on hiphopsite.com. That mixtape has a lot of good tracks including his awesome freestyle 'Beef.' Most, if not all of the songs on that mixtape are also on 'We are hip hop...' though, so you might not need it if you find the 4 disc set

And I'm sure you know, but if not. Blackstar is the group formed by Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Also, if you're just getting into Mos, I do not recommend his latest, as it's way different than his other stuff.

I'll definetely agree with that. Mos is very special rapper, not to mention a damn fine actor.

But if only he would get back to the rapping part instead of only focusing on the acting.

Too late  I have already got this from iTunes as this was the only album they had from him. I also got Rackus presents decade album. Will look out for Black on both sides in HMV or Virgin stores.

And check out "Quality" by Talib Kweli if you haven't heard it!
