I'm pretty sure that is a different El Scorcho.

There is now an account preference about cover art. You can choose to only receive discs with cover art (which, I assume, means you can only ship discs with cover art).

For those la la members that love Cover Art, a trade preference has been implemented that will result in trades completed only with Cover Art. Go to My Account and select “Only send me CDs with Cover Art” to instate this preference.

Cover art preference:
Send me the first available CD, with or without cover art.
Send me CDs only if they include the front booklet cover art.

Yeah I noticed there are a ton of new features. I love my coverart, but with my obscure list of wants, I'd rather get the solo disc than no disc at all.

Getting back in return: Nirvana Unplugged, to replace my copy that was stolen long ago.

Now if only I could get rid of some of these crappy country CDs...

cdollaz 07-17-06 03:37 PM

I've gotten rid of quite a bit of crap that I thought I would be stuck with forever also.

I can't believe someone actually wanted Live - Birds Of Pray.

atlantamoi 07-17-06 04:13 PM

My trades have slowed way down, but even if it all stopped now I'd be very happy. I have received a few extremely hard to find or expensive CDs. Got Miracle Legion's "Me and Mr. Ray" which goes for $78.00 on GEMM (and even more on other sites). Someone also sent me Lloyd Cole's "Easy Pieces" which is also a little rare. Cool.

I also have a boatload of invites now if anyone needs them. I have had really good luck with the service so far getting a decent amount of liner notes and only 3 discs that skipped at all. Trading has slowed down though since i've blown through the bigger more accessible releases i had on my want list.

It is open enrollment now. Invites aren't needed any more.

xmiyux 07-17-06 05:32 PM

Very cool, although why did they then give me all these invites if they aren't needed.

Jeremy517 07-17-06 05:39 PM

They were needed up until July 1st, I believe. Maybe you got them before that?

Cosmic Bus 07-18-06 12:26 AM

I've gotten some people at work interested in using Lala, so in this instance I'll actually make use of the invites even though they aren't necessary: free t-shirts ahoy!

xmiyux 07-18-06 06:02 AM

I forgot about the tshirts - bummer - i would have liked a couple of the designs.

Canis Firebrand 07-24-06 05:09 PM

I just logged into my LaLa account today to confirm a cd I recieved. After looking at a couple of cds, I had a blue message saying I qualified for a free T-Shirt.

Pretty cool.. Not sure why as I never invited anyone. Maybe since I got in pretty early and have a large have/want/trade list?

Says I should get the shirt in 2-3 weeks.

Same deal for me.

It also seems the amount of requests has picked up slightly for me inclusing a couple CDs I did not think would be wanted.

Same thing for me! yay, I love free clothes!!!!

Michael Corvin 07-25-06 07:41 AM

Same here. Probaby has to do with the amount of trades you have done. I've traded 61.

xmiyux 07-25-06 07:43 AM

No free shirt for me :( I only have like 22 trades though.

Canis Firebrand 07-25-06 08:16 AM

I have 61 traded as well.

Cosmic Bus 07-26-06 09:02 PM

Seems 60 is likely the magic number. I'm at 54 traded, with 19 more that I could potentially send out, but I'm hesitant to do so because I'm not getting anything in return these days. My wants must be too weird or no one cares to part with the CDs I'm after. Booo! I really want one of the blue shirts, too...

I traded my Arrested Development today.

Also, since they added the option to require artwork, all but one CD that I've received have had both the front and back art.

saoirse 07-28-06 04:52 PM

I'd like an invite if anyone has one.

One question after reading the first couple of pages, are the liner notes/cover included in most trades or is it just the cd itself? If it's just the CD itself, I don't think I'd do any trades.

You don't need invites any more. You can just go there and sign up.

Before you add any CDs to your want list, go into your options and choose that you only want CDs with artwork. You will at a minimum get the front artwork and will usually get both.

xmiyux 07-28-06 08:17 PM

I actually went back to not just wanting titles with artwork. Many of the ones on mylist are offbeat enough i'll be happy to just get the disc and hate to limit my chances.

Jeremy517 07-31-06 12:38 PM

Odd coincidences:

Last Tuesday, I shipped a CD to someone named Mary in New York City.
Last Friday, I shipped a CD to Mary's next door neighbor.
Today, I shipped a second CD to Mary.

That apartment floor is going to be rockin' out to Shai, Hammer, and Arrested Development very shortly...

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.
