The Raconteurs
The Raconteurs website is now up (been up for a little while I think) - Jack White, Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler & Jack Lawrence (of the Greenhornes)
I like Steady As She Goes but Store Bought Bones is where it's at. http://www.theraconteurs.com/ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ursTopImg2.jpg |
Are they having a staring contest in that picture?
Thanks for the link. Pretty interesting user interface. |
This is the best thing Jack White's every been involved in if you ask me.

I heard Steady As She Goes for the first time the other day. Not bad at all. I'll check this cd out.
Steady As She Goes sounds like something of off De Stijl. Which is a good thing IMO.
Jack Black is super funny.. I can't believe he left Tenacious D for this.... oh.... nevermind
Heard the leaked version of this last night. Really good stuff. Power pop mixed with bluesy Zeppelinesque numbers and a little Queen like harmonies thrown in. Good songwriting and vocals. One of best of the year so far.
the album comes out May 16th.
bump. it's out tomorrow.
I've heard Steady as She Goes on the radio alot the last few days. I think I'll pick this up. It'll be 9.99 at Best Buy and Circuit City this week, fyi.
I'd have to say so far, the best song on the album is Level. I have been waiting forever to pick this cd up and tomorrow I finally can.
I also believe Jacky boy is done with the White Stripes. You wouldn't know it because he likes to stay out of the spotlight but I remember reading something about along those lines a while back but as always................who knows. EDIT - here's a link to a site on myspace where you can listen to both Level and Blue Veins: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endID=52923131 |

Steady as she goes is a nice single, it's on heavy rotation on Sirius 21- Alt Nation
I got one of their songs from a free Itunes download, I think it was Steady As She Goes. It was pretty good. I may get this one, but it'll be down the line a ways.
Honestly I think the album is pretty boring. It lack the spontinuity of a White Stripes album.
Spontinuity? ;)
Picked it up today - so far I love it just wish there were more songs.
listened to it a few times. not bad, but nothing jumped out and grabbed me.
Almost every song on the Album is amazing. Very hard to find albums these days that are so strong. Very similar to The WS stuff, as in it's folk rock old school type music, but with more instruments and a wider range of vocals it has more musical complexity than anything The WS have done. The last cd I actually bought was The White Stripes Eleephant in 2003, and this might be the next one, if only to pick it up from Australia as The Saboteurs.
I do love the album cover too. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...V50569200_.jpg |
I agree, this albums kicks and it's also THE BEST thing I've ever heard Jack White do! Repeated listens just make me love this album more and more. So many good songs, with the title track easily my fave. This is charting high on my year end list right now.
Hm, I guess I'm in the minority of not falling in love with this. I mean, it's good, and some of the songs are great (Store Bought Bones, Hands, Yellow Sun and Level in particular) otherwise I thought it was eh. My expectations were kinda high, but I felt that they didn't put in all the effort they could have. It's a nice album, but I can't see it becoming a memorable favorite with me.
