Eagle Rock have today kindly confirmed to us that in the USA they are only releasing the single DVD of 'The Making of A Night At the Opera'/ For the rest of the world they will be releasing a single DVD and a double DVD Premium Edition. They are also releasing the single DVD on UMD for the PSP worldwide. All release dates are March 20/21. Definition of UMD and PSP: Short for Universal Media Disc, it is a proprietary optical disc format developed by Sony for use with the Playstation Portable game console. At only 60mm in diameter, it can store 1.8GB of digital data. It is currently being used for holding Playstation Portable compatible games or movies. Sony had announced plans to open the format to third party developers and companies. It seems that the 2 disc version is what Queen should have released for the 30th anniversary of the album instead of the less than amazing disc we got. However I suppose if you already have that one, the single disc version of this new release will make a nice companion piece. |
